Hi.
my girlfriend and I decided again (already 2nd time) to go for a week to Bovec this year, through work I got an apartment.
now I ask for some help,
we're taking bikes too, is there any bike path route around Bovec?
how about cycling to Vršič, would it be best to drive by car under Vršič and then continue up? how long approximately does an average cyclist take to go up?? (from Bovec side)
what else to see?
SVINJAK definitely, because I haven't been up there yet.-))
what do you recommend?

You'll run out of vacation sooner than you'll visit even some peaks. Zadnjiški Ozebnik, Rombon, Kanin, Krnsko pogorje and countless peaks, not talking about km of paths.
Have a nice time. I bet you'll return to these nice places.

I've been returning to Bovec for some years now. Usually on weekends. Best is to buy the tourist map of Bovec municipality, one side has map with drawn bike trails and marked hiking paths, other side descriptions of them. Costs around 7 euros, get it at all camps and tourist offices. For cycling to Vršič from Bovec the road from Bovec to Trenta drags a lot and very busy too, so almost better to drive to Trenta. Lots of enjoyment!

For example by car to Drežniške Ravne, then by bike to planina Zapleč and on foot to Krasji vrh.
Or directly from Bca to B station of gondola by bike, then on foot to peak of choice (choice is huge).
Or from Bca to Kal-Koritnica through Čezsoča by bike, there hide bike in bushes and on foot to planina Golobar and further to Javoršček.
And more and more and more and more ....
At the end by bike to Mangrtsko sedlo (direct from Bca) and then on foot to Mangrt!
Otherwise, unlimited ideas on net. If you ask some agency in Bc for ideas, they'll tell you something interesting too.........
Just in that area goals till end of life and beyond.........

Or from Bovec to Lepena by bike and then on foot continue to Krnsko jezero and on to Krn.
Great to reach by bike also Planina pod Kobariškim Stolom. Further to Stol on foot, among goats, cows, above you paragliders. Great.
And by bike to Robidišče and Nadiža.
As GregorC wrote, best to take the map, ideas for whole year or more.
Maybe go to Mangart too.
To hut by bike, further with backpack,..
And over Predel to lake, then over saddle back with cable car,...
Maybe to Matajur too.
When I have more strength and lots of time I'll bike across Rezija.
In short enjoy, Bovec and surroundings have thousand nice spots,....

For apartments I recommend LD Turizem because I have super experiences with them, fully equipped apartments, in the one we had with my girlfriend there was a whole collection of books, DVDs with movies and cartoons, and also stuff like oil, vinegar, salt, Vegeta etc...
As for excursions... not enough time in the world to describe all=) for me the absolute nicest end of Slovenia and every time I return I find something new. For cycling it's ideal there! Paths they'll tell you in any agency and equip you with a map on top.

Aleš Bilmez at address Žaga 152 (Srpenica), road from Bovec south soon after Boka waterfall, offers always fresh trout from own spring. He cleans the fish for you too. I recommend.
