Today my colleague and I were on Velika and Zadnja Mojstrovka. The weather was super, views very nice, visitors, except on Mala Mojstrovka where there was a whole "party" thanks to the retirees' bus, weren't too many.

I'm surprised no one described conditions on Vršič slopes of Mojstrovkas, where yesterday there were crowds of activity-hungry visitors of all nationalities. Most headed to M. Mojstrovka, our little group's goal was its higher sister. Since we were all more or less green on winter approaches, we did the tour with guides. Nice snowy tour spoiled by thick fog that deprived us of views and photos, snow conditions very good, no icy spots or avalanche danger on the route.

Given the bad weather forecast today I didn't plan to go anywhere, in the morning it turned out it might be ok after all. Due to late hour only something shorter fits, decide for V.Mojstrovka. To Vršič, parking problems (because early gentlemen park parallel to road where parkings are meant perpendicular – interesting, doesn't happen on weekdays), skis right on backpack, decide for shortcut through preparatory gully. To Grebenc, some time towards MM, then traverse left and on firm track to V.M. Descent on south slope excellent (need to traverse right up there immediately above avalanche debris to other side). Ski towards vratca, take off skis and put on exactly 1 meter. Back at car exactly in 2 hours. In short, excellent given forecast.

We were also on mojstrovka yesterday. Weather was really much better than forecasted and so we extended our tour a bit and climbed Mala, Velika and also Srednja Mojstrovka. In the morning still quite hard and dangerous for slipping, in the afternoon up on the sun everything was already south-facing soft. Crampons and ice axe obligatory, watch out for huge cornices. It was very nice, and we regret a bit not going to Zadnja Mojstrovka too.

Today in nice weather to V. Mojstrovka: completely dry path over so-called >kuhno<, as one of the other two today's summit visitors called it, who came up via shortcut right of the >normal route<, as he said.. The path we took is obviously used much more in winter due to rather heavy scree, than now.. (wondered why V.M. with nicer view has so few visitors) On M.Mojstrovka of course quite some people, but still less than expected. Looks like no rain even in afternoon. We were there in the morning.

Yesterday Matjaž and I decided on a circular tour from Planica to Planica. Past Tamar first to the top of Jalovška škrbina, descended and continued to Rob Dnine, then Kol, Travnik and all three Mojstrovke. Descended via Hanzova and in between jumped to Nad Šitom glava, then Slemenova špica and over Grlo back to Tamar and the car in Planica. Quite quiet corners, except Mala Mojstrovka and Slemenova špica. Weather of course excellent, just hoooot

Today over Mojstrovke, from Zadnja descent to cross ridgelet (grass for lying), scrambling down, Suhi vrh and back. Except Hanzova and top of MM practically nobody. View was autumn clear and revealed impressively many unclimbed peaks.

And what happened today in the wall of Mojstrovka that helicopter had to intervene around 18:30 to 19:00, and in Tamar a whole bunch of mountain rescuers?

offtopic: At 17:58 while climbing in Travnik, municipality Kranjska gora, just below summit a rock broke off and severely injured one of the alpinists in the head. Mountain rescuers GRS Rateče and duty team GRS at Brnik cared for him and transported by police helicopter to SB Jesenice.

Eyes rejoice in the morning dawn, especially when nature is washed by the rain. Look, the sun finally appears, the orange color of the sky doesn't lie to us. Everything around glows, almost burns, my soul rejoices, desires this beauty. These minutes of the awakening day, are like pearls that one strings together.

Winter in the mountains is already showing its real teeth! In the morning it was still all dark in Bled, drizzle from the clouds, radio even forecasted cloudy weather. I had no choice but to drive towards brighter Kranjska Gora. Ascent via Pleša would make me quite wet from spruce needles already at the start, higher up it wouldn't be too warm. So I first picked up a fellow mountaineer hitchhiking just before Jasna and we headed to our highest shelter. The road over Vršič was quite icy in parts in the morning, above 1300m real fog soup!. At Grebenec saddle it just sprinkled a bit, right behind the edge snow showed that full autumn winter is in the mountains. Colleague Blaž didn't have crampons and ice axe, so he skipped the traverse to V.M. and headed to Grebenec. There, feeling the snow which was still a bit hard in the morning, with ice underneath somewhere, I equipped my boots with crampons, then elegant walking only to the edge. Further on drifts up to knees, far more than 20 cm snow. In strong sun the dry snow started to crust on the south, frequent slabs formed. I advanced along the firm snow right edge by the wall, looking for optimal snow, not too thick windblown and not too thin with protruding rocks. The first collapsed and cracked carelessly, the second held poorly with unstable crampon position due to rocks, slipped. So I pulled up the optimal line all the way to the summit ridge. Behind me I heard some voices, banging ice axe on crampons and loud talk. At the top colleague tells me a group of about 20 mountaineers went behind me, but later it turned out they turned back. Maybe they got scared of my slabs that I left on the track every now and then, as technically the ascent wasn't too hard. For the snow though light steps were needed, almost harden each one again and make a good step forward. In between double collapses with slabs, which additionally tired on the tour. Great views up top, light south breeze blowing, warm. On return clouds from the coast joined in the afternoon and rolled over Vršič to Kranjska Gora. We descended back via north side to Grebenec. At Vršič I meet the legend Otiv with his wife, who also finished their tour to Slemenova Špica. The tour was quite decent for the conditions and surprisingly tough in autumn snow .

Currently the path from Little to Rear Mojstrovka is well trodden, but after the forecasted snowfall it will be completely different. We choose our own path and approach Rear Mojstrovka via Velika Dnina. The snow is of various qualities, from parts that hold a person to those with thick slabs of dry snow. Below the ridge we come across traces of predecessors who descended here, which eases the ascent for the last 150 meters of elevation to the ridge.
