Mountaineering greeting. Well, today an excellent circular tour, starting at the cargo cableway on Jezersko, direction Ledine via the Slovenian path (hut already closed) and then further on the very demanding path to Velika Baba summit. The path is well secured, extremely interesting, but not for the dizzy or inexperienced climbers. Descent from the summit along the ridge, direction Jenkova planina. On the descent on this path, I recommend great caution, as there are practically no protections (cables). From the planina, then ascent to Goli vrh, very nice and definitely worth visiting. Then descent via Jenkova to the car. Ah, total walking time approx. 7 hours. Views fantastic of course. Recommend.

Yesterday we did a scenic loop: parking in Ravenska Kočna - Slovenska - Ledine - climbing path (Rudi's vertical) to Velika Baba - Jezersko sedlo - Slovenska - parking in Ravenska Kočna. Protections are in good condition.

Today from Ravenska Kočna to Vadine and via climbing path to Velika Baba. Path fine, lots of scree on the path after winter. Didn't need ice axe, but at this time it's wise to always have it with you. Rudi's vertical dragged on a lot. Weather wonderful.

Hi, has anyone gone over Jezersko sedlo in recent days? What are the conditions?

janez.novak, are there snow patches on the path so you'd take ice axe or are you saying generally it's wise to have it? I think it depends where you go. I'm interested specifically if this path is fully dry (via Slovenska to Ledine-Vrh Babe and ridge to Jenkovo pl.). True, conditions can only be better from 10.6. till now, worse (regarding snow) surely not. Thanks for the answer.

Hi. I'm wondering if there are any special features regarding snow and protections on the climbing path from Ledine to Baba. Does snow without gear obstruct anywhere? Thanks.

No peculiarities and no snow.

Super! I have this trip idea too, just descend from Ledine. How long did it take you?

Thanks just go on this trip. With all breaks (picking spruce tips etc.) and very leisurely pace we took just under 9.5 hours

Also from the other side, Ledine, all dry, passable without winter gear

Gandalf, did you perhaps go from Ledin to Češka koča? If yes, via the umik žrela path? Žrelo has been closed for very many years already, will anything be renovated there? Thanks lp

LISAC, I would follow as published: https://mapzs.pzs.si/section/10348 So from Ledin exclusively bypass along the Slovenian path to Ledine and then junction up. Just yesterday I was around there and witnessed two snow avalanches releasing from under the wall between Dolgi hrbet and Štruca - it carried and broke everything all the way down to Žrelo. And especially now in June this is certainly no longer just snow. I wouldn't go there under any circumstances (near Žrelo).

No, went from parking via Lovska to Ledine. But managed to film from V. Baba summit the avalanche mentioned above. It was booming like in Donbas. So advise against Ledine - Češka path, if someone was there yesterday they would have gotten plenty.

Tomco and gandalf, thanks both. Saw the avalanche on the web yes and now wouldn't go there either. But we'll do this tour in second half of August so checking in advance. Checked yes and think for return looking right, from Ledin back down via Slovenian path and if I remember right the lower path that climbs under Žrelo towards Češka koča is called "umik žrela". See on PZS normally open.

LISAC, yes that's right, you're correct about the name "umik žrela" and path route. Sorry for possible confusion - my reply referred only to Žrelo itself and those parts towards Žrelo that are closed. And yesterday the end of the avalanche reached exactly those areas. I think it didn't reach the umik trail. Actually, just seeing post from Skala123 who yesterday went to Češka koča via umik žrela. So if the climbing Slovenian below Ledine is dry, you can plan for next weekend
