Yesterday with the first gondola to station D, then to the saddle below Prestreljenik and descent on snowfields (yeehaaaa), whatever was left from winter, to Prevala. From Prevala we descend for quite a while and when you think the descent is over, the path starts in the style "up down, up down,..." confusedangrybig . In the end you lose the sense of altitude. The sun had already burned us properly, so we could hardly wait for the real ascent to start. Although Rombon seemed damn far from the saddle below Prestreljenik, it was suddenly too close. Doubt arose whether we hadn't missed the turn-off to Črnjelo, as locals call it. But we didn't. The marks are faded and need refreshing, but the path is well visible. When after almost two hours we finally spot the turn-off to Črnjelo we breathe a sigh of relief and that's when the ascent really begins. Initially nice path turns into scree and just below the first remains of WWI objects we turn left and continue on quite steep grass to a narrower section, where the poles only hinder us, so we leave them and after about 10 minutes of light scrambling we reach the summit. Despite the feeling that we're not walking very fast, we reached the top in two and a half hours. We were lucky, as occasional mists came by, which later didn't want to leave the top at all, but we were already on the way to Prevala. Nice views from the top again, except towards the father-in-law.
On the way back the mists accompanied us first, which were a real balm on the sweaty skin from the sun, later from Prevala to station D we mostly walked in fog, so it was occasionally pleasantly fresh. Of course no views then.
Initially we planned to descend from Prevala through Krnica to B station, but those 1000 m of descent wasn't to my liking at all, so despite the complaining of the better half I managed that from Prevala we climbed back to the saddle below Prestreljenik and took the gondola down to the valley. The reason is simple; air temperature and no wind would be quite a challenge, as the tour was tiring enough, especially after four days of hiking in the hills, and we still had to drive home.
Contrary to expectation we met quite a few hikers on the way, two went to Črnjelo when we were descending (a bit above the turn-off), three went (probably) towards Lopa, two towards Rombon,..
The summit itself is pleasant with nice views towards Pecol (of course) and Rombon, Jerebica,..
Unfortunately the gondola officially starts at 08.00, although that's quite late for such a tour. Need to consider that when planning. Namely, although "šajba" was forecasted for that day, we got caught by some raindrops on the way to Predel.
If someone asked me what the tour will stay in my memory for, I'd say: "for: up down, up down, up down,…". Personally it doesn't bother me too much, but someone... embarrassed. Take it or leave it.. winking

Today we did this tour, namely from Kanin cable car station B, past the pasture in Krnici and along the marked path towards Prevala, after 20 minutes a well traceable path branches right to the spruce,, we follow this path for about 300 meters and then leave it again and head left to a quite well traceable little path, (today we fixed it and made additional cairns) for easier traceability. This little path brings us to the basin at 1890 m nv where we join the marked path from Kanin-station D. So the path goes without problems all the way to the top,, for descent we choose over Mala Črnelska Špica through all the bunkers along the ridge and descend near the Speleological bivouac to the marked path to Rombon,, we followed this path for about 200 meters, when the path starts ascending at a larger cairn the path branches right through a gap towards Planina Goričica. The path is quite traceable but fully overgrown with faded marks. Above Planina Goričica we leave the marked path that leads to Bovec and head right along the mule track towards Roglje, heading to Planina v Krnici and station B, at the foot of Roglje an initially nice mule track branches right,, which gradually turns into a path that crosses the entire grassy and forested area all the way to behind the spruce and Planina v Krnici so we're back at the start. Good 7 h 30 min and 18 km,

After 10-day quarantine I felt my appetite for the mountain world doubled, so we headed to my favorite place in our municipality. The ridge from Lopa over Hudi vršič Črnel Peak to Rombon has a very soothing effect on the human heart and soul with enormous supernatural power that always enchants us, makes us happy and pours in hugely needed strength,, especially in today's time. We chose Črnel Peak as dessert and fully enjoyed all the beauty and return very positive now only in another sense.

All praise for the nice pictures and accompanying text. With them I relived memories of my ascent to Črnelska Špica from B station years ago. Time to repeat the trip to this little-visited part of the western Julians.

Hari, you'll have to go up again, the cairn in Kotel obviously misses you a bit alreadybig smile. Otherwise thanks for it, it nicely opened the route to Hudi vršič for us!

Velika and Mala Črnelska Špica, Vrh Ribežnov, Pri Banderi, Jelenk

After a several-month break yesterday finally back in the mountains, I missed them. Start at B station and then to Krnica. At the alpine pasture the owner was there with 2 dogs, higher up I encountered goats too. From there ascend the path below western walls of Vratni vrh, Jelenka, Bandera. Path is traceable, cairns help. Above join marked path Prevala-Rombon. Follow toward Rombon then at marked junction turn left to Črnelska Špica. From Velika go to Mala Č Špica, which has more military remnants and is more interesting from that viewpoint. Descend further along ridge and join marked path to Rombon via pathless terrain. Also ascend to Vrh Ribežnov, just a few minutes pathless from marked. Return on marked path to junction for Bandera and continue across to Jelenk. Then start descent to valley. Initial descent part among grass and rocks path not visible so go by feel, lower well traceable. Again past Krnica pasture and this time lower path to B station.

26.09.2023. You are just a wanderer. So go! I read it somewhere. And we went. Early from home. Now the days are shorter. But those beautiful autumn ones. When mists surround everything. But on our path only blue sky. For the first time a white-headed hawk flew over us. You only saw the shadow and wingspan. Truly incredible view. And the speed of chamois that were above us and running to the other side. We took time to see war remains. On Mala Črnelska Spica. Also right on the ridge edge where we descended, wall traces remain. Probably few go there. And checked the part where someone comes via gully from Možnica. If at all. It was a day truly sunlit.

Start Krnica direction Prestreljenik but higher change mind and go via grass to upper marked path. Continue to Črnelska Spica, there under wall on scree already too cold for shorts, get dressed. At summit sheep, cold and light wind await me, with jacket, hat, gloves stay longer. At end go also to Mala Črnelska Spica and back under wall of Vratni vrh.
