Yesterday with the first gondola to station D, then to the saddle below Prestreljenik and descent on snowfields (yeehaaaa), whatever was left from winter, to Prevala. From Prevala we descend for quite a while and when you think the descent is over, the path starts in the style "up down, up down,..." . In the end you lose the sense of altitude. The sun had already burned us properly, so we could hardly wait for the real ascent to start. Although Rombon seemed damn far from the saddle below Prestreljenik, it was suddenly too close. Doubt arose whether we hadn't missed the turn-off to Črnjelo, as locals call it. But we didn't. The marks are faded and need refreshing, but the path is well visible. When after almost two hours we finally spot the turn-off to Črnjelo we breathe a sigh of relief and that's when the ascent really begins. Initially nice path turns into scree and just below the first remains of WWI objects we turn left and continue on quite steep grass to a narrower section, where the poles only hinder us, so we leave them and after about 10 minutes of light scrambling we reach the summit. Despite the feeling that we're not walking very fast, we reached the top in two and a half hours. We were lucky, as occasional mists came by, which later didn't want to leave the top at all, but we were already on the way to Prevala. Nice views from the top again, except towards the father-in-law. On the way back the mists accompanied us first, which were a real balm on the sweaty skin from the sun, later from Prevala to station D we mostly walked in fog, so it was occasionally pleasantly fresh. Of course no views then. Initially we planned to descend from Prevala through Krnica to B station, but those 1000 m of descent wasn't to my liking at all, so despite the complaining of the better half I managed that from Prevala we climbed back to the saddle below Prestreljenik and took the gondola down to the valley. The reason is simple; air temperature and no wind would be quite a challenge, as the tour was tiring enough, especially after four days of hiking in the hills, and we still had to drive home. Contrary to expectation we met quite a few hikers on the way, two went to Črnjelo when we were descending (a bit above the turn-off), three went (probably) towards Lopa, two towards Rombon,.. The summit itself is pleasant with nice views towards Pecol (of course) and Rombon, Jerebica,.. Unfortunately the gondola officially starts at 08.00, although that's quite late for such a tour. Need to consider that when planning. Namely, although "šajba" was forecasted for that day, we got caught by some raindrops on the way to Predel. If someone asked me what the tour will stay in my memory for, I'd say: "for: up down, up down, up down,…". Personally it doesn't bother me too much, but someone... . Take it or leave it..
