The 28th hike on the Velika Lašče Cultural Trail was cancelled due to corona. Hikers were still invited to walk the trail on our own. A few of us gathered and walked the 15 km trail from Velike Lašče past sv. Roka to Fran Levstik's birthplace, Retije. We viewed his statue, memorial plaque, Ilijev kozolec, without a single nail, thatched... These Dolenjska corners are beautiful, people's diligence visible at every step. Friendly locals in Dvorska vas welcomed us nicely, treated us, as always. We could view the collection, and the homestead where Niko Grafenauer spent vacations. All arranged with exceptional sense, hosts always hospitable, flowers super, automatic watering. Walk on to Mala Slevica, can't pass by gostilna pri Kropcu. Today no time for home treats, come next time. With what diligence the son arranged Brodnik homestead - just stand and look, even wood stacked perfectly. We strayed a bit from the official hike trail, since past sv. Jakoba and Hrastinjaki we can't go... Then on towards Kot, meadows some already mowed, others still full of meadow flowers. On Velika Slevica we already see how much closer we've gotten to sv. Primož, a bit more and turnoff to Stritarjeva Podsmreka. First-grader Sara diligently stamps, a bit sad because wanted more hikers... next year. Stritar in place, kašča arranged, locals friendly offer tea and other treats. Last ascent to Ulaka, Podulaka and descent to Trubarjeva homestead, nicely arranged, also new parking exemplary. This time sadly closed, also missed baked fish... come next year. All except me were first-timers this year - looked satisfied, so not last time.

Twelve hikers from PD RTV joined the 29th Velika Lašče Cultural Trail, which took place in sunny, hot weather. The trail is easy, 15 km, runs from Velike Lašče to Retije, where we saw Fran Levstik's monument and Ilijev kozolec. We continued to Dvorska vas, where they always hospitably treat at Kajžarjevih, nicely set table always waits, voluntary locals. Short stop at Kropcu, where we know each other well. This time we met Kalinški Vinko and his little dog... For reviving memories we turned to Hrastinjaki, over Velika Slevica to Podsmreka, where we met also Jako and Irena, took pictures at Stritar's monument and viewed Stritarjeva kašča... Then to Podulaka and to Rašca for fish and čevapčiči. The trail passed very quickly in good company. Hike organization excellent, hikers super, this time many of us, since our Stanka got a gift as 400th participant, and there were quite a few more...
