Veliki and Tolsti vrh

The hiking activity could also be called mežikanje ŠTORE - CELJE. Above Štore, the hiking trails thicken noticeably, as the Voglajna area transitions towards Savinja, Sava, and the Štore-Celje connection allows quite a few combinations. 09.06.2013 decision for one of the longer variants and the basic guideline before the activity was somewhat more concrete and longer connections of the Štore municipality and the Celje city municipality, and as the main guideline also the connection of the highest peaks of both - Štore municipality - Veliki vrh 807 m.a.s.l. and Celje city municipality - 834 meters high peak - Tolsti vrh. Start near Voglajna in the early morning hours in Štore – Railway station and then continuing towards Svetina via Kompol and Šentjanž above Štore to Veliki vrh, which lies southwest above Svetina. The peak is not very pronounced, offers practically no views but is already somewhat towards Lisca or Bohor... On the way back to the Svetina settlement, a stop at the grave of the great traveler and humanist Alma Karlin, who rests in the cemetery and is still an inspiration for ,,hikers,,.

Continuing, of course, towards the already mentioned Tolsti, some sources call it Tovsti vrh. Today ascent from the northeast direction - Pečovnik or Grmada and this trail is dearer to me than the eastern approach - the Celje mountain trail from the Svetina direction, because it leads more through the forest and is one of the more interesting ones by what is seen in this part of the world above Celje. At the summit, which offers no views, entry in the mountain logbook, chat with some hikers or mountaineers and then descent on partially new variants along the ridge above Celjska koča, also the mushroom educational trail... and continuing below Vipot peak and also ,,we'll see,, trail for descent to Tremarje mežikanje some other time in a new trail variant above Savinja & Sava... Met quite a few who crave walking. Final descent to the valley along Pečovniški stream (the bridge over Voglajna is still under renovation) and therefore the final kilometer along the old football stadium on the rock cellar to the center of Celje by the railway station...

The trails were decently soaked, also muddy and from what was seen - a lot of material deposits, I assume there was a strong downpour in this area yesterday, which was confirmed by the locals who were rushing to dry hay. A sturdy man who persists on a lonely homestead above Svetina told me in conversation that the storms on Veliki & Tolsti vrh have ,,the young ones,, and ,,it knows how to damn well strike,,. Distance a bit over half marathon - after correction 23.50 kilometers/1200 elevation gain, suitable for the second June Sunday of 2013 and some small snapshots in conversation with locals and more loyal visitors of these places... definitely enough for some ,,pebbles in the mosaic,, of insights into part of Slovenia above Štore & Celje in the triangle towards Svetina. Despite thoroughly ,,checking,, Geopedija, I was a bit in doubt ,,if this is it!? it!?.. And on Wednesday 12.06.2013 I officially checked at the Štore municipality a bit out of curiosity and also mischief and soon got a reply that I was nasmeh right. Veliki vrh at 807 meters is the highest peak or point. Through the Štore area there is a trail - http://www.store.si/po_storah/ whose markers and signs I saw and it's marked but reaches only somewhere to the center of Svetina settlement.mežikanje For a while enough southern areas of Celje & Štore... Today ,,V,, - a look in one short hiking activity between Štore and Celje. In this somewhat more direct variant, I was mainly interested in three things: the mountain trail over ,,Žlajfa,, 781 meters high Ramanca and the highest peak of the Celje city municipality, 834 meters high Tolsti vrh. Primary was the ,,Žlajfa,, trail which nicely surprised me with dynamics and nice transitions between forests and meadows, pastures. The trail is quite in use as seen and that's right. The access to the trail is also interesting as it practically goes through the complex of the old Štore ironworks, where one can easily follow the ,,patina,, of past decades and development... Ramanca somehow along the way and Tolsti vrh as logic of the highest peak in the hills above Celje. Today ,,O,, - a look in one short afternoon hiking activity, mainly above Štore and a bit above Celje... From Štore connection to the highest peak of Celje city municipality... Tolsti vrh 834 m.a.s.l. and the highest peak of Štore municipality... Veliki vrh 808 m.a.s.l. and that from Štore on the path ,,past Marija,, and return - descent to Štore on the path ,,over Šentjanž,,. The paths are the extreme western and eastern from Štore and especially over Šentjanž is ,,very roundabout,,. Still quite a few interesting points along the path, terrain very wet, muddy and slippery... After corrections 21.40 km. Sun was mežikanje little, while Celje with surroundings below was in the sun as seen...

Some of today's path was known from previous activities, some new sections walked for the first time. This is somewhere the highest world above Štore and Celje and very easy. On the path colleague Vinko joined me for whom most of the track was unknown. In the narrower area of Tolsti vrh met some recreation seekers while on wider connections no one. Slightly lonely this world, paths correctly marked and also maintained. Maybe some trail description, as some photo material has accumulated, impressions too. Today main goal, 700 meters high Srebotnik, probably the most interesting peak in the entire Celje hills, ascent from Svetina direction and descent towards Štore. With Veliki and Tolsti vrh it would form a nice triangle of interesting sides. Path a bit roundabout for collecting kilometers and elevation meters, diverse insight into the world above Štore especially today. Upward on the path into Celje hills via Opoka, Kompol, Šentjanž, junctions Dobošek and Ramanca, descent from Almin dom on Svetina and then still ascent to Srebotnik and descent to Celje via Stari grad on Grajski hrib. Despite lower height more interesting, in some parts steep peak with quite prominent position. Conditions ideal for first days in March, a few pleasant hours in the world above Voglajna…

Almin dom on Svetina is open again...SOURCE: Also personally mežikanje checked on Sunday. Pleasant spot high in Celje hills has been lonely for long. Currently to Almin dom, now Dom na Svetini ,,guided,, nine official paths/trips, seven from my side and quite some additional ones near it as a point along the path. Certainly pleasant for autumn, winter trip... Best regards

Veliki vrh above Svetina 807 basic goal of the trail higher into the world of Celje hills. From Štore, because it is also the highest peak of Štore municipality. By height it is 27 meters lower than Tolsti vrh, which is the highest peak of the hills. Tolsti vrh is in Celje city municipality. Descent done with colleague Vinko, veteran of PD Poljčane to Celje. Trails in the central part muddy, higher also snowy. No recreation seekers on the trails yet. Weather sunny, morning relatively cold with some frost in more exposed spots. Veliki vrh is not particularly known, geodetically marked and somewhat outside the central part of the hills above Celje. Still interesting and there are five officially described trails to it on this portal from my side. We have about seven different open topics on these little hills, so I won't open a new onenasmeh yesterday pleasant wandering in rain and cold through this deepened stream gully to Tolsti vrh and back through Suha. And in between the eye wandered on the slopes. So today another additional wandering. Nice places and lots of ideas for further exploration. Pleasant chat on the summit. Safe on the trails!
