Today we climbed up to Čaven from Lokavec and from there further to Modrasovec. In places a quite steep path, otherwise a beautiful path. I'm wondering if anyone knows what that concrete building on top of Modrasovec was for? Boštjan

This is an old military building, more they know in the hut at Čaven.

Yesterday we headed to Koča Antona Bavčarja (from Lokavec). The path was dry and without new obstacles. We continued to Veliki Modrasovec. On top there was 10 cm of snow, or on windblown areas up to 25 cm. The path is passable, caution is always needed when heading to the mountains, as nature has its own life pulse.

We jumped on it again and found no ice damage here. Before the hut base two shots were heard and apparently hunters shot at six mouflons who skillfully evaded them, so hunters left with red noses. Finally praise to the path markers who newly marked the path with an interesting height difference idea.

Those boards are "remains" of the Vertical kilometer race which this summer ran from Lokavec to Čaven

Kokta, did you see a stamp on Modrasovec maybe? As I see - snow just a sample?

I didn't notice it. But I know they had it a couple of years ago in the hut. There's a little snow before and on top of Modrasovec, otherwise it's bare.

Yesterday I went from Lokavec to Modrasovec. Those signs for the vertical kilometer were great for me, because it was my first time on this path and at least you can roughly imagine how you're progressing. It was quite steep and long for me and it's much easier if you break the path into pieces... But the path to the hut is exceptionally beautiful, worth every step. The top of Modrasovec was completely uninteresting to me, at least a cross or stone standing there ) And near the top there's still some small snow, but really - for 8 steps on snow In five hours I didn't meet anyone!!! The stamp is at the hut, even though it was closed, also the logbook. There's nothing on the top at all... Not even on Mali Modrasovec...

On Saturday we were guests at the Medvode PD, more than 20 gathered. In windy weather and wonderful winter idyll we visited Veliki Modrasovec. We went from Predmeja on the marked path, SPP. We were on Čaven several times, but always skipped Modrasovec. There was quite a lot of snow, 30-40 cm on top, some views towards Krn. It was a real winter idyll. We stopped at the hut on Čaven, the keeper friendly, has a great dog. The ascent was easy, a bit more demanding for the first ones making the track. We descended to Lokavec, total over 1,100m descent. In the first part lots of snow, on parts we used spikes. Then less snow, but more slippery. All the time cloudy, strong wind. But when we reached Lokavec, it cleared up and a nice view towards Sinji vrh opened. Wonderful winter tour...

"ropontika", Lokavec is correct. Lokovec is a settlement on Banjšice, west of Čepovan.

Glimpses from the trip Predmeja - Anton Bavčer Hut on Čavn - Veliki Modrasovec - Bevški vrh. The walked path is normally passable. Regards, Tadej
