Veliki Selišnik and Debeli vrh above Pokljuka

Today we set off on the pathless Veliki Selišnik. An initially cloudy day quickly turned into a nice sunny and warm day, which lured snakes onto the plain. After a break on the mountain top, we continued towards Debeli vrh. On the way we noticed a smaller interesting cave which we checked out. We descended past Blejska koča, from where we went down back to the starting point (Rudno polje). From the military ski slope to the parking lot it started raining. Lp Robi and Tadej

Debeli vrh is an interesting and mystery-filled mountain. Before you reach the top there's a lot of interesting stuff: crevices, sinks, potholes and very wild rugged world. In fog not recommended. In good weather nice and interesting wandering. And without crowds.

One small remark.

It would look much more pleasant and nicer if under the photo it said what's on it! That's all.

Let me briefly describe the pictures. 1. Summit of Veliki Selišnik, 2. Triglav from that summit, 3. in the cave below the summit, 4. Friendly hiker at Blejska koča.

On Sunday we left the car at Rudno polje and climbed through Kačji rob below Viševnik, on whose summit there was quite a crowd. Some snow on the north side, then we turn right below V.Selišnik, where it was quite hard, follows descent below Debeli vrh, where we meet quite a few people in the opposite direction. Then ascent among larches to the summit of my very beloved Debeli vrh, from where the views are insanely good, especially to Rjavina is really fascinating. Comparing the tour from two weeks ago, when we went counter direction, from Blejska koča below Mrežce to D.Vrh, then Mrežce and Lipanski vrh, and down to Blejska koča. Both are very panoramic, walking among larches, tours for the soul. Return to Rudno polje a bit different, because we went on unmarked hunting path towards M.Selišnik, but the path occasionally gets lost a bit and it looks like not many people walk there. We closed the loop on the road at the ski slope and thus ended another beautiful day above the fog...

Tagec, how much time did you take for the whole path from below to Viševnik, then V. Selišnik then Debeli vrh and back down? And also I'm curious, does a path lead everywhere, and where, or is there also off-trail? I've been to Viševnik already, curious how to get to Selišnik and then to Debeli vrh.
Best regards.

You got it a bit wrong, on the 5th photo it's not očak, I think it's Mali Draški vrh.

jprim, of course it's not right. My comments under the pictures are mixed up, because I'm still learning to put up pictures and comments, so everything is shifted.
maateja, altogether about five hours, we went under Viševnik, because the path through Kačji rob is much nicer to me, then instead of to Srenski preval, you turn right - it's all marked!! On the way from D.vrh towards Mrežce, we turned off the marked path, but there's a very nice marked path under Mrežce to Blejska koča, there you turn towards Rudno polje. Very nice, easy path..LP

Thanks a lot, we went yesterday, but only to Viševnik, because the weather was strangely worsening - but next time I'll definitely try this path.

Yesterday (01. 11. 13) we headed to Veliki Selišnik. Since we had always been there only in winter we were interested in the approach through the dwarf pines without snow.
Above the cable car (at Zlatih vodah) we left the procession aimed at Viševnik and branched off to Kačji rob and the valley behind Viševnik.
After a few meters descent towards Blejska koča we climbed to the saddle below V. Selišnik. Then the path goes for some time along the southern side through the cut dwarf pines. Cairns also ease the approach.
Somewhere in the middle of the mountain we turned straight to the summit and then along the ridge to the top, where a wooden cross now stands.
After descent we wandered along Draški rob between 1979m point and Mali Draški vrh.
Nice autumn day zavijanje z očmi, which would be a shame to spend in the foggy valley.

This bit of the ridge was missing, but not since yesterday, I skipped Veliki Selišnik, it'll wait till next visit to this always beautiful and panoramic ridge. Why I did that on the link
http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/2015/04/po-robovih-nad-krmo.html
Otherwise still quite some snow on the path, crampons recommended in shade on north side of Selišnik and whoever hasn't gone yet should wait till markers peek from under snow.

Safe travels on paths and also where there are nonenasmeh

Edina, I like these journeys of yours, whose course is often unpredictable, but that's just the charm, it enriches people and gives wings for new feats. Really worth climbing V.Selišnik next time, and also the unnamed peak (1979 m), from which the gaze is drawn precisely to V.Selišnik. Both peaks unmarked, both solitary, hence even more tempting. This world behind Viševnik is really awesome!

Oh Ločanka, really sometimes I get myself tangled up. When I'm alone, I don't worry at all. The joy when I find my way again is so much greatermežikanje. Back there behind Viševnik I really walked for the first time this time, it's really nice as you say and I'll go again for sure.

Today short trip to Draški rob, towards the peak marked as 1979 m. From there really nice views over peaks above Krma valley. Then still to Veliki Selišnik and back towards Pokljuka.
In shady valley behind Viševnik some snow that's trampled and icy.
Interesting that until return to "highway" on Viševnik we met no one. But on neighboring Viševnik and Mali Draški vrh quite a few people velik nasmeh

Today nice circular path via Viševnik to Srenjski preval and on to V. Selišnik. Return via Kačji rob to Rudno polje. Many hikers on Viševnik, Selišnik without visitors (except us). Path to Selišnik marked with numerous cairns. Caution needed due to snakes. Very nice viewpoint. Nice regards

Yesterday we ascended the very popular peaks, Veliki Selišnik and Debeli vrh. On the ascent to V. Selišnik the snow was still frozen and partly icy, but for skiing it was already nicely softened and excellent. Also excellent descent from Debeli vrh. Today conditions have changed due to snowfall.
