Veliki Slomnik

Veliki Slomnik is a 609m high hill which drops with a vertical wall on its SW side. Today my friend and I tried to climb it right up this wall. Since the rope stayed home, we somehow found a bypass in the last quarter below the top of the wall and continued on grass to the summit. The path (pathless terrain) was partly wet and slippery due to new snow, so the repeat will have to wait for better conditions. Still it was nice to touch the rock. LP

Veliki Slomnik was nasmeh the main goal of the hike between Štorami and Celje above the left and right bank of Savinja...also a bit of Voglajna and Hudinja...Štore - past Marija - under Srebotnik - Tolsti vrh - under Vipota - Tremerje - Veliki Slomnik - Libojske stene - Liboje - hut on Brnica - under Hom - Celje/bridge - Celje. A solid view of the left and right bank of Savinja. Colleague Vinko was along today. At Veliki Slomnik also Tolsti vrh on the left bank as the highest peak of Celje hills and of course Tremerje/bridge as the necessary connecting link. Nice autumn path, also some foggy inserts. Quite ,,ojštra,, route for this altitude world and pleasant autumn weather. Quite some kilometers, ascents too...even more impressions from the nice path. Lp

From Celje center. Starting point Celje Breg. Today to Veliki Slomnik. Over Miklavški hrib. A few meters below Anski vrh. And over the top of Homa near Celje and Košnica. Varied path. Very much so for this relatively low area between 240-610 meters. Conditions pleasant, some soggy terrain here and there. No more snow. Windy, partly cloudy. Return exactly along Žerdonerjeva path. So skipped the part below Anski vrh/asphalt road. Marked poorly here and there but managed. Now conditions met also for say evening approach. Elevation meters no surprise and really rich for this distance. In the final ascent to Veliki Slomnik, also extension to Libojska stena and descent back to Košnica in company of a mountaineer/hiker from Zagreb area and chance for short chat and exchange of opinions.
It was pleasant today on the paths, above the right bank of Savinja for sure.

Short hike exactly along Žerdonerjeva path to Veliki Slomnik from Celje center and back. Extension of course to scenic Libojska stena. Along the path of course also points Miklavški hrib and Hom above Košnica. Varied route with different surfaces and ,,rich,, in elevation meters. Weather sunny, on return cloudy and two small showers with a few raindrops. Paths dry. Tuesday is a specific day and no recreation seekers on the path. Here and there some local along the path mowing grass or gardening and towards Brnice in the distance ,,sang a chainsaw,,. Short, but nice today. Gnilec changed the circular path to (better choice) direction Liboje-Veliki Slomnik-Košnica and back by road. Jumps and traverses are safe uphill in wet snow. Of course, the most annoying part follows when sliding downhillnasmeh In snow the loop takes about two hours.

Today there was little time, but last year's hike reminded me of the neighbor (Kamčič, 511m). The only record on the net (http://www.skoberne.si/prijatelji/2009/mbkotecnik09/) is useful despite its simplicity. The ascent went more in the sense - straight up, fitness is there, if legs burn it will pass. On descent it's possible to find a multitude of connections and paths. The ridge overgrown with brush is a good half kilometer long. It consists of four small peaks and a final summit, because of which the hill catches our eye at all. Short (1.5h), but nice.

I've been to Slomnik many times, but can't find myself in your records.
When you reach the top above "Libojska stena" it's 5 min to the logbook box. I usually climb pathless above the climbing area. Marked path runs parallel. I descend towards Košnica.

Today on Slomnik a bit on my own. At the climbing area under Libojska stena I head straight up. Rock is dry, no mud, branches help but can be deceptive. Every other one is dry and can snap. If climbing gets demanding, a retreat to the right onto the marked path is always possible.
From the top I continued along the ridge and descended to Tremarje. At Hohkraut they have draft beer.
Nice tour (7km) spiced with some scrambling.

Sadly, on the promontory with nice view over Liboje the wooden sign "Libojske stene" has disappeared. Also the bench is gone. zavijanje z očmi

This evening along the ridge of Mali Slomnik to the viewpoint above Libojska stena. Short but sweet. Pity there's no bench on the promontory anymore.

Today Košnica junction - Veliki Smolnik. Path is very nice and well marked. Views also good, slightly obstructed by branches.

Winter fairy tale on ridge of Veliki Slomnik. Start by main road Celje-Laško at turnoff to Košnica. Descent from Pomol off-trail to forest track and continuation on Liboje-Košnica road to start. Three hours walk, at start evening -9.5°C. cool

Today before lunch we took a family walk through the Potoki gorge to see if the butcher's broom is blooming yet. It's still about a week short of full bloom. After ascending to the summit we descended along the Žerdonerjeva path.nasmeh
Then there was a quick visit to the butcher's broom at Vipota, where the situation is better.mežikanje
But in Celje these days there's quite the traffic chaos because lots of works are underway, mornings are still manageable, on Friday afternoon I turned towards Šentjur because we were barely moving to the AC. The bridge to Celjska koča was closed today, on Friday afternoon it was open, so there's a long detour, on the way back we just went to AC Celje east.
