Veliki Šober-Mala ruša

Morning start in Malih Rovtah-Rutte Piccolo, through Trbiž forests and pleasant path 518, which leads past the collapsing wooden hut-bivouac that would still be usable in a pinch, onwards to Alpel saddle, where the summit Cima Alpel is 5 min to the left off the path. Back to the path and short descent all the way to "hut under five spires"-rifugio Cinque Punte, where paths 511 and 520 join... then along the latter all the way to Veliki Šober, then descent and along very nice, almost flat path along the ridge to Vrtaška Škrbina-La Portella, where path from Rajbl joins and continuation along path 511, which branches left a bit before Čez Stože saddle. Further to Dren the trail is still visible, icing on the cake was the ascent to Mala Ruša, in the initial part one needs to use hands a bit and watch out, as it's quite crumbly, further on it's all thrashing through rhododendronsvelik nasmeh, anyway... once you try it, you can't shake it offjezik, the path is unmarked, not trodden and after rhododendron thrashing you're happy to see a cairnnasmeh. Descent from summit same way and through Dren, path also unmarked but nicely visible and leads to Mangartska planina... nice to have two cars or a bikevelik nasmeh
Despite the tour not exceeding 2,000m height, views are fantastic, weather anyway summery... tour without Mala Ruša undemanding and right for coming autumn daysnasmeh

Man, where do you climb that, for Pete's sake? Nice to see though, I admit.

Mala Ruša was my second goal last week after Veliki Grintavec, which is somewhat to the west. Under Mala Ruša you can still get comfortably along the cut path, only the last part to the western ridge needs some fight with brushwood. First awaits around 50 m climbing along the western edge of the wall to first brushwood - I. Brushwood is sparse at start and helps balance. The higher, the more there is and if you miss predecessors' tracks a bit like I did, you have proper fights with this green plague. When I fought to the top due to unique views I quickly forgot scratched legs and arms (short sleeves). Descent wasn't much better, so watch to stay as far west as possible on rare predecessor tracks. Where I scrambled down I'd rather not say....nasmeh To the valley I descended via Dren, where I was scared of brushwood from afar but unjustified as the path is nicely cut all the way to Mangartska planina. Still it was nice.

From saddle Čez Stože below Mala Ruša a hunter's path leads to Dren - Dolič valley, locals call it Drn, which is usually quite passable and followable. To top of Mala Ruša best in winter on skis when brush is deep under snow. But on north side there's a nice gully that has tempted me for a long timemežikanje.

The path is overgrown, today after Veliki Grintavec I also went up to Mala Ruš.
