Veliki Špiček 686m

I set off on the "Path of Sovereignty" from Pišečki Castle.
The path is circular and marked with special markers. At the "Velika bukev" saddle we reach the hunting hut, from which it is another 10-15 minutes walk to the summit. The entire path is in the forest, so there are no views except right below the summit, where it opens towards Sljemen.
From the summit back past the hunting hut towards Kerin's monument, from there along the asphalt road to the church of St. Jedert and further in the direction of Pišeč to the starting point.

I suggest for next time another loop. Parking at the pond below the castle, return 50 meters on the road towards Pišeč, left on the asphalt road past Maks Pleteršnik's house, markers and mountain signpost then direct you left steeply uphill (says Pečice 2h 30min, but the path leads towards Špiček). Follow the markers to Špiček, from Špiček descent to the little saddle and right down to the hunting hut, straight ahead on the marked path over the hillocks (a bit up, a bit down). You reach the intersection at Kerin's cross. If you feel like it, extend the loop to Veliki vrh (Tolar monument), if not, continue about 500m downhill on the road, past Kerin's cross and a sign on the tree (before the earthquake observatory) directs you sharply left into the forest (you don't have to walk on the road to St. Jedert and to Pišečki castle). Cross the meadow and at the end the sign for Path of Sovereignty directs you back into the forest. From the forest you come right next to Pišečki castle. Then just descend to the lower pond and you've completed a nice loop. velik nasmeh

"d", thanks for the suggested and described path, maybe I'll repeat it sometime.

From Pišece steeply uphill on road to birth house of Maks Pleteršnik. Here missing arrow "strictly right" on road to mountain sign on left (Pečice). Steeply up and then along ridge over Velika Špegla, Velika Vagle, Veliki vrh to Veliki Špiček. Due to foggy and rainy weather no views. Continuation past hut at Velika bukva to road. Here straight up forest track to bare Šucljev breg. From there Veliki vrh appears on west. Follows descent to saddle below Veliki vrh and then left to Pot suverenosti, which brings us to top of Veliki vrh, where monument to Slovenian tolar stands.

Markings from Pišece to summit faded or insufficient. Also continuation towards Velika bukva and road above Kerinov spomenik would benefit from markacists visit.

I used visit to Terme Paradiso for hike to Veliki Špiček and enjoying winter sun - supposedly village Pišece gets most sun exposure in Slovenia, even more than Primorska! Well, if not true, recommend correction for sure. Parked at Jager store and then went between Church of Sv. Mihael and renovated water mill towards source of Gabernica stream. On nicely arranged but steep path (Gozdna pot Pišece) I climbed to Lovski dom, turned left to road and followed to first red sign. Already there could join Pot kozjanskih borcev, but turned to forest a bit earlier. At this point advise caution, as nearby is shooting range of hunting society. Path to V. Špiček further clear and well marked. I circled it past Bivak Velika bukev, Intermedija (where this name from?) and Kerinov spomenik. Back to Pišece past Pavlov vas and Pišece castle. Added up 12 km and 600m elevation. Next time try reverse direction!

Yesterday's snapshots from the excursion from Pišec to Veliki Špiček with an extension to Veliki vrh, where there is a monument to the Slovenian tolar.
There is quite a bit of fallen trees on the path, but the path is still passable. In some places you need to go underneath, in some places above, elsewhere the fallen tree is bypassed on the left or right side.
