Yesterday with a friend to Veliki vrh. The road to Planinšek is completely dry, dust flying like on the Dakar rally. Further on a completely different story, it is snowy and quite icy. A little above the junction to Vodole and Korošica meadows we parked. We continued on skis across Ravne meadow, around Dleskovec past the monument at Sedelce. There David realized one ski was without skin, so he went back to find it. I was nicely warmed up to working temperature, didn't want to stop, so continued to the summit. A bit higher I swapped skis for crampons and ice axe. I ascended the Veliki vrh summit via the saddle approximately midway between Veliki vrh and Velika Zelenica. The whole width of the saddle had cornices. Two spots seemed passable over them. I chose the right variant, which turned out pretty good. The last meters under the cornice were so steep that I barely made it over. The summit was blowing hard, so I quickly prepared for skiing. I had to carry the skis a few meters, as the summit towards Zelenica had almost no snow. Then followed searching for a spot where I could start skiing over the cornice. The best option seemed next to the place where I came up. I removed the cornice for the length of a ski. Despite that, the first meters were completely vertical. Continuing to Sedelce was pure poetry. David was waiting there, who ascended the summit along the ridge and skied down it too. Followed varied skiing to the car in the direction of the approach. In short, a nice tour for both of us. We started on skis and ended on skis, as befits touring skiing.

Continued on skis over Ravne, around Dleskovec past Sedelce monument. David saw ski missing skin, went back. I was warmed up, didn't stop, went on to peak. Higher changed to crampons ice axe. Up Veliki vrh via saddle mid between Veliki vrh and Velika Zelenica. Saddle full of cornices. Two passable spots. Right one good. Last meters under cornice steep, barely over. Summit windy, quick prep for ski. Carried skis a bit, no snow to Zelenica. Found spot to ski over cornice. Best by ascent point. Cleared for ski length. First meters vertical. To Sedelce poetry. David waited, up ridge down ridge. Varied ski to car on approach. Nice tour. Started on skis, ended on skis, as for touring.

Awesome  Janez, how's the snow otherwise around Dleskovec for skiing in general? Do you scrape the skis or does it go? Planning to go next weekend

Snow generally poor, but as you see there's enough for a nice tour. Towards Korošica looked good too, especially Mala Ojstrica and further under Ojstrica. Dleskovec is the iciest of all, so avoid it. We didn't scrape at all. Maybe a few cm more snow by weekend. Road to Ravne pasture ok, but towards Podvežak apparently pure ice.
