I have Maindel hiking boots in the 150 euro price range. I'm very satisfied with them, but the soles need replacing. Does anyone have advice on where, how and for how much they can be replaced and what experiences you have with replacement? Matej

A shoemaker in Domžale changed the soles for me and I have to admit that I'm very satisfied. The price was 30 e in the autumn.

If you're from Ljubljana or the area, I recommend Stivale, sports footwear repairs - Černetova 13, Lj. They changed the Vibram sole for me and I'm very satisfied. Lp

Matej, you also have the option to send the boot to the Meindl factory, and they will replace the sole there... it costs about 30-40% of the boot's value.

I have hiking boots from the link below.
LA SPORTIVA - Karakorum Pro Gtx
The soles need to be replaced and that front part crampons hook into. Could that front part be replaced?

no, I asked too, can replace only sole for you, toe part breaks off... I wore mine out in one year... Solution? Semi-automatics...

This summer after a good two years I enforced warranty for Scarpa model Triolet. On one boot insole plate in sole broke. Sent both boots to factory where they replaced entire sole incl. rear groove for crampons, also protective rubber around boot. Basically only upper leather part left from old boot. On both boots. Free. How much repair would cost if not warranty, they didn't know.
Bought boots at Alpstation in Trbiž.

Some shoe makers also replace soles, not all and of course their own. For Vibram sole replacement on Lowa boots pay 60 €, bring to authorized dealer who handles transport there and back.

Vibram sole replacement (pair) at Stivale on gojzerjih Scarpa cost me €45. The boot is now better than original  . The master really masters his trade.

If you have a reliable shoemaker, there is no dilemma. But it's hard to imagine what you mean by "better than original"?
