Visoka Špica 2165 and Skala 2133

On Sunday Darko and I drove to the small parking lot before the last tunnel on Mangart road intending to conquer the little-known peak Skala, but descriptions were so ambiguous that we two armchair climbers bit into the hill's steepness too early. When we reached the top (good grade II difficulty), I immediately suspected that we were on the desired hill, which I recognized nearby. I alone stepped onto the 13 meters lower western subpeak, where there's no path for descent. Darko suggested the southern descent, where I won't mention the difficulty . From Visoka Špica we both descended safely and headed to Skala, where under the base we bumped into three guys. Since they thought we were beginners, one kindly offered to guide us with a rope. Of course the ascent to Skala was a piece of cake for us, as it can't compare at all in difficulty with Visoka Špica just conquered before. Since Mangart was offering itself, we also grilled sausage on it. In the hut food tasty, jota, ričet for 4€. And one small remark. If someone descending the Slovenian route is less attentive in the dark or fog, it's dangerous to step into the void, as after the recent collapse, when they rerouted the path, they didn't remove three pegs leading to the abyss...

...and Male Špice 2167 could be the title. Yesterday's day was not as nice as five years ago, unfortunately, so there was a bit more 'groping'. After Ivo and I drove half of Slovenia and the friendly hutkeeper, despite the closed hut, served us good tea just before 8:30 pm, we started first towards Skala. The path was always well traceable, wire ropes a bit below the summit were probably put by Italians, as they are completely loose. We didn't stay long up, as fog prevented enjoying the top. We had more luck on Visoka Špica, where there was quite some sun; Ivo even dozed a bit in the grass . Fog came again, so we had some trouble determining the true Mali Špice summit, as first we ended on the adjacent one (per M&M third spire in the ridge). Well, in less than ten minutes we were on the right one. Despite the already quite short day, enough time was left to hop to Mangart; during the one-hour ascent I met at least a hundred people, who were (mostly with helmets and self-belay sets ) returning from the top via the Italian route. There were no special features on the tour, but the second and third summits are completely pathless; no ropes are needed anywhere, but rubber gloves on palms are welcome, as they are very useful in steep, sharp grass. On the long return we stopped in Dolenja Trebuša for super calamari and cold beer.

Rabeljske Špice almost certainly not.

lijaneja, I think it's the ridge of the Breitkofl group (above Remšendol or between Šenek and Kopa). In the middle of the picture should be Montebello 1989 m. Something like that I judge
