I've been thinking for a while about doing this trail. Yesterday I got lucky, everything fell into place, the weather was fantastic too. Ignoring the inhuman early wake-up, long drive and lack of company, the day was truly unrepeatable. Knowing what I can do, I fully relied on myself, a bit worried about getting too lost somewhere, since the path, though drawn on maps, is extremely hard to follow in places, especially in tall grass.
Parked in Žaga village at 6:15 am and since it was already light, the light stayed in the backpack. First come three planšarije, bad experience with the second, years ago (goal was Turn pod Črnim Voglom) spent quite some time looking for the path continuation. This time it went smoothly, but 'Dolina' slowed me a lot with huge grassy screes with holes. Well, as a reward I treated myself to ripening raspberries there, enough for a whole plantation. After three hours reached the saddle 'Med Baban', soon headed to my first goal Zelene čuklje, but map view redirected me left. Mistake realized 10 min below Vrh Žlebi big

Tried descent on shortcut with some rocky jumps, from the bottom the ascent to Čuklja was easier. From the top photographed the surroundings, quick descent, to Vrh Žlebi to avoid jumps returned via easier but much longer path, so walked a good part twice today. Since I've done "Ta visoko Rosajansko pot" several times (only the border section), continuation fully known. Peaks one after another, Italian red triangles showed the way. Had to descend into deep notches several times and climb out again, time flew by... smile

Arrived at Kanin summit 1:20 before last cable car down. Like years ago, on trial again, hut closed, no bivouac anymore, even sandwich still in backpack... No choice. Switched to trail and at five to four already at cable car building. In 33-minute ride snacked, changed, already thought how to raise thumb for ride to car in Žaga. Well, that worked too. Home just before dark, satisfied, happy, slightly tired.
Hope to read more repeats of this somewhat demanding tour under this title. wink

Great idea big

You take the bike to B station and when you finish, descend to Krnica pasture and a bit more, then you have a ride all the way to Žaga, where you of course have the car wink

Bojan, I thought you'd even pull the bike from the car, you prepared so much when Marijan and I drove by. You were so focused that you didn't even look at the road to see what was happening. nasmeh

I see there have been no repeats of this tour and probably there won't be until they prepare the cable car for the return. Today in the December Planinski vestnik on p. 15 I relived last year's event a bit. nasmeh

Congratulations, Lijaneja. The tour is wonderful but "long-lasting". In August 2023 I did a slightly less strenuous one. From Kanin village in Bovec to Kanin summit (without ascents to any additional peak) and the same descent as Lijaneja. Departure at 6:30. Already at the beginning, before Plužna village, I chose the wrong path and walked on macadam towards station B. A bit earlier I took it off-trail through the forest. I hit the first mark when I stepped onto the macadam road leading to Gozdec. From there on it went without problems. Midway I came across a small spring at about 1700m. Short break at the remains of the old Skalar hut. Exceptional views. Already to the turnoff for Laška Planja it drags on, you can't skip 2000m...
The Zadnji dol valley is really long. Finally I overcame 2200 m and slowly approached his highness, High Kanin. Slightly worse markings and a bit of searching for the entrance to the more demanding part. I met no one. In contrast, towards the gondola there was a real procession, as well as to the window in Prestreljenik. I reached the summit after 5 and a half hours of walking. Mists, as usual here, began to veil the views. Snack and then in a fairly quick pace to the gondola. I had half an hour left to enjoy the exceptional high-mountain environment with a beer. Since the gondola is not operating now, this environment will be even more deserted, including the Peter Skalar hut. Ascent and descent in the same day is quite a strong challenge, except for mountain runners and hikers with a lot of stamina....

Super, Matjaž! Shame you didn't attach some pics from the hike. For me Strava (with extra jump to Zelene čuklje) from Žaga to High Kanin measured 13 km walking. Otherwise I walked the shortest path, from the saddle Med Baban over the border peaks Vrh Žlebi, Kamen, Vrh Laške Planje, Črni Vogel, Pod Kaninom, Mali Kanin and the summit, since I already knew the route quite well. Total elevation gained 2620 m, as if starting 40 m below sea level mežikanje

I took some pictures, so I'll add them to the previous description in these holiday days. Your tour over all the listed peaks, even though on the shortest path, is magnificent. I thought there was more elevation, because I alone with the ascent from Kanin village to High Kanin and to the gondola did about 2200 meters. I'll check Strava. It always "adds" a little because it hunts for signal and accumulates a bit more than the actual state.

5.8.2025/Longtime wish, much thinking, planning and postponing finally the day D. From Žaga to High Kanin and bag most summits. By all means avoid path past pastures (because it drags a lot) so choose opposite unmarked side toward Boka waterfall and then to Pl. Baban. From Pl. Baban happily avoid grassy snake valley toward Velika baba and head right into forest on abandoned mulatiera. Most of the path on unmarked but well traceable trails. Then between Veliki and Mali BS walk on grassy very pleasant terrain, soon step on marked path with very faint marks for Kanin. With some breaks on summit in good 5h 45'. Descent long traverse first to Prestreljeniško okno then via ferrata to Sedlo then Prevala and valley past Pl. krnica into woods where they come towards me, so at end of path boiling with satisfaction. Tour to lick fingers and bite nails.

Miri, liquid supplies 2.75l, replenished above Prevala from snowfields, and below Pl. krnica from hidden spring, so it worked out

Daaaam, thanks.. Garmin fenix 5X can lie too, cuz the path from Žaga is such that you're constantly gnawing your knees, I'd rather say 120 average velik nasmeh
