From Solkan I was pedaling along the road towards Lokve, but only up to the long right bend above the Oddih inn, where I turned off the asphalt onto a forest path. A couple of km of mixed terrain.. from a nice trail to rocky and fairly steep "steps".... The trail joins a gravel road that comes from the valley, more precisely from the village of Plave (on the Soča) past Paljevo and forks at the saddle... towards Holy Mountain, Grgar and Vodice. First I turned towards Vodice (651m), where a nice cart track leads all the way to the mausoleum of General Gonzaga and past many trenches and caverns. The Path of Peace also runs here.
