Volovja Ridge

Today I climbed to the peaks around Knežak.
With the car I first had to drive to the village Šembije (from Ilirska Bistrica or Knežak), then along a poor gravel road to Kamenščina (karst field). About 3km on gravel.
First I climbed to Milanko (948m), then across Volovja reber (975m) to Bele ovce (1029m). Followed a short descent to a poor forest road, then ascent to the highest peak of the trip Velika Milanja (1099m).
From the top I descended to the aforementioned road, along which I returned to the starting point.
I should mention that the path is completely unmarked.

In nice weather enjoyment on a ca. 2.5h long circular path along the ridge between Lunjevica and Milanko and on the connecting road. Really nice pristine nature.

I saw that beautiful Milanski kamen in one post recently and the decision fell. It needs to be seen up closenasmeh! Since Jože hasn't hiked Volovja reber yet either, the bargaining was easiernasmehnasmeh.

We drove to the village Šembije and soon ran into a notice about a bear with cubs. Well, we didn't let ourselves be scared and parked a bit further at the next intersection. After all, it's an area of wildlife, roe deer, eagles and hawks, as presented everywhere. No markings, no clear directions, on the whole path we saw only some signs, namely under V. Milanja.

So we headed first to the peak Milanko marked with small Aljaž tower and hoped strongly that the bear didn't have the same plansnasmeh. From there we went along the entire ridge of Volovja reber and admired views all the way to Julijci and KSA. In between we stepped also on peak M. Milanjo, Bele ovce and the most known peak Velika Milanja. We went also to the mentioned beautiful rock and to the cavern nearby. Since we wanted to capture all peaks with view, we headed to the neighboring ridge so admiration was completenasmeh.
Since we chose a circular tour, we had to think where back so not to make too long loop. So we descended directly from the signs down some poor cart track to the lower macadam road and thus walked ca 3 km more to our start. But not boring road, full of nice views left and right to peaks we hiked. On whole path we met three people, two runners and one cyclist.

In the new video I embark on an epic cycling expedition through fascinating karst landscape where I conquer 5 peaks – Milanko, Volovja reber, Velika Milanja, Štango and Sveti Ahac. The path leads through pine forests and wonderful meadow plateaus creating perfect backdrop for cycling or hiking adventure.
Dynamic video that won't leave you indifferent.
