Start at the shelter at Plužna to planina Krnica 1252m, then to Vratni vrh 1996m and loop to Jelenk 2050m and Plešivec 1962m. Then return towards the valley on another path to Krnica.

Plešivec/1962m/ is the highest peak in the ridge north of Rogla above Bovec. It is a remote and poorly visited peak full of history and worth visiting. In the period of senseless wars it was a very important military fortification, consequences are visible today after a hundred years. Today we went past the pasture in the cirque, behind the spruce and along the still well-traceable old abandoned mule track to Plešivec. In strong wind we scoured it for a good view and also climbed to the peak at Bandera. Descent to the west side under Jelenk and Vratni vrh and back through Krnica to the start.

Picture 12 shows the position of the anti-aircraft battery. I strongly doubt it was armed with a gun at that time. Very likely it was a machine gun post here.

The matter was presented professionally in one of the shows about the Soča front. At this location there was a gun.

It is indeed; we've gone down there several times (trips to Lopo, Črnelo, Vršič...). This time (Črnelo) we went up past pl. Krnica and soon right onto a less noticeable mulatiera running right under the rocky barrier. For descent we used the ridge military paths over Pri Banderi peak, Jelenka. At the saddle between Vratni vrh and Plešivec the decision was made for the latter too, which doesn't disappoint. Descent follows grassy slopes on less traceable mulatiera. Caution at the first trees: need to find the path to the right, and at the spruces a short descent to Krnica - nice loop, recommendnasmeh

When the unpredictable happens, everything is even more interesting. Because this tour wasn't even planned. Completely by chance someone sent Marijan these posts that are up here. It wasn't known to him. To me only mirank's riddle where that column is that he set up. Where Plešivec is I didn't know either. But I've looked several times from Rombon towards here. They are pathless peaks. Which fewer people venture to. Špičica will wait. We said to each other. We had the path drawn. We somehow knew where the branches are. That scarecrow on the path is still there. Ahead of the only fixed rope. We started walking at B station of Kanin cable car. And as usual, we didn't meet anyone the whole way. We found both branches. Continuation to the first peak Plešivec was quite pleasant. Partly on military mulatieras. Anyway, traces from then are still there. We were quite surprised by the remains of buildings, walls that were masterfully built. And wide paths all the way to the top. Under the summit on the platform lightning struck recently and left traces of shattered stones. For ascent to Jelenk we decided not to descend all the way to the bottom where the path to the saddle is. But go pathless over rocks and avoid scree all the way to the top. Then we reached the path. For the last peak at Banderi we go on the path. It's nicely laid out. A few meters below the summit Marijan noticed a large viper sunning on a rock. I didn't see it because I was ahead. He said it was unusual light blue and gray color. And quickly rolled off the rock and hid. He didn't even have time to photograph it. Anyway, it was a great day. We descended on the loop path that mirank mentioned. Somewhere it connects with the one from Prevalle to Rombon. We noticed the branch to Vratni vrh and the zigzag path leading up. And continued to the starting point on the path. 2.9.2022.

Traditionally I go somewhere to Kanin every September and since some time ago from the marked path towards Rombon I saw someone jumping on that side ridge Pri Banderi, I put it on the list of corners where it's worth sticking my nose personally and see how it is.

Since apparently dark clouds are gathering above the Kanin gondola, I decided to use the fact that it's still operating and nicely like a gentleman arrived at 2,200 m at Station D. The marked path under Lopo is one of the most beautiful in our mountains and views of chamois (at least 20 I saw!) and marmots only confirmed that.

At the saddle I turn off the marked path to the ridge on a less visible path, occasionally reinforced by cairns, but lose it quickly anyway. Still no problem, as there's no technical difficulty, nor particular exposure to the east side, so with pleasure I search passages a bit my way. Right below the summit is the entrance to cave Čehi 2, with 1,500 m depth one of the deepest pits in the world. Brr... that's not for me, I prefer to stay in the bright sun.

Further towards Jelenk and Vratni vrh it's similar, with path that is and isn't again, hand on heart I neither missed it nor searched particularly. Due to cloudiness views were more limited, but no matter.

Since after a while my ankle starts warning that it's not ok yet, I skip Plešivec and slowly head for long descent to station B, where I just nicely catch the gondola and shorten the way to the valley a bit.

Summary: no snow, marked path/partly demanding pathless, whole tour approx 6.30h, of which effective walking approx 4.45h (difference is snack, chatting, admiring nature...). Length 10.0 km, ascent 330 m, descent 1.560 m.

17.11.2022. No one knows what they can do until they try. (P. Sirus) We knew the weather would be more foggy. But since it would snow in the coming days, we decided to go at least to Vratni vrh, from station B of Kanin cable car, past planina Krnica. Known to Marijan and me. The third, Renato, first time in these parts. Snow was already quite low. Črnelske špice, which showed themselves in rare moments, are snowy. The path was visible all the way to the branch into Naklo gully. The higher we went, the more snow there was. We found the best passages. We viewed the window under the summit. And went to the top. We imagined what views there would be if not so cloudy. And we surprised a ptarmigan somewhere in the gully. For descent we decided on the other side. Navigation helped us. Once on the mulatiera there were no more problems. To Plešivec it was still about three quarters of an hour's walk, but we skipped it because no views. Descended past planina Krnica and decided to go by road to station B where we had the vehicle.
Here we started.1
Carefully over the little bridge.2
In the forest, a known path.3
Also further from the junction, a visible path.4
Scree.5
Then it started closing up.6
Here we last descended with Marijan on the path.7
Even some blue was visible.8
We did not expect snow so low.9
In the gully.10
How nice it would be with visibility.11
But you take it as it is.12
We continue in the grass.13

We go towards the saddle.15

A little more.17
And we are there.18
Behind, Jelenk, otherwise hidden today.19

but still satisfied.23
to the top it's not far.24
carefully in the last part.25
over rocks.26
despite poor visibility the last part of the path is clearly visible.27
a little more.28
and we are at the top.29
on descent. Probably from cavers.30
we find a mule track.31
sun in the valley.32
bench by the road.33
and the end of our unusual but still really nice tour.34

02.08.2023. When forecasters predict better weather and in the morning it looks somewhat like that. Then the Kanin world wraps in grayness. Already known many times. But we didn't give up, despite dew on Jelenk. Poor visibility on the third peak Pri Banderi. We started around 6.30 at B station of Kanin cable car. Continued on the pathless terrain known to Marijan and me. On mulatiera ran into mountain hen with chicks. She had about four. The higher we climbed, the more grayness. On Plešivec still some views. Descended and went over grass to saddle between Vratni vrh and Jelenk. If nicer weather we would go to Vratni vrh too, which is close. We continued to Jelenk and then on that nice path to Bandera. On some sections need to watch out, as path is eroded in places. Aim was to descend the other side where path from Preval to Rombon goes. Here navigation came in handy, because in such world you quickly lose sense of orientation. Also ascent to Hudi Vršič left for perhaps another time. When so close, yet far. Sky didn't hear us. Descended on known path to planina Krnica. Then decided to go by road rather than slippery path to start. Just then they were driving tourists to zip lines with land rovers. And wouldn't believe, the driver stopped for us and invited us to drive to cable car station. In the end we saved some km walking and enjoyed adrenaline ride on gravel road.

And even quieter are the solitary paths. From planina Krnica on a path known for some time. Aim was to look at Rogelj. 1701 m high. Last year we walked under it and checked where the path was once laid. Found the branch. Further steep and exposed. Section where maybe once a small bridge was, they put chain for aid. Then on visible mulatiera from war times. Summit is spacious and panoramic. Few years ago there was fire here. Remains still visible today. We continued to Plešivec 1962m. Path through scree nicely laid and traceable. Further known to us three. Božo first time on these peaks. For Jelenk 2049 m we choose pathless. Below summit find former steps that are preserved. Last peak at Banderi 2051m awaits us. This one also known to us in good and foggy weather. Now something in between. Towards summit less visibility. Ptarmigans were close there, but due to fog we didn't see well. Descent on our known path. Where we cross the only snow patch. Already on section of marked hiking path. Descend in loop under Vratni vrh, which was hidden in clouds. Tour where you meet no one. Beautiful and solitary. 14.6.2024.
