Today from Planina Jezerca first to Vrh Korena then also to Kompotela. Nice trail, nice views.

We fulfilled our wish to walk in the snow. We drove to Planina Jezerca and ascended via Kriška and Planina Koren first to Vrh Korena and then to Kompotelo. We spent a lot of time under the cloud cover, but that made the moments and minutes when the sun shone and warmed us even more precious. Clouds below us and the dance of mists created a wonderful winter idyll, which was even more beautiful with light snowfall, sun, rainbow with snow pillars in the sky on the return from Planina Koren.

Today (Monday, 3.1.2025) from Planina Jezerca and over Planina Koren to Kompotelo, then also to Vrh Korena and back.

At the parking lot and Kriška planina there was annoying fog, actually low cloud cover that cleared up just below Planina Koren. Up top crystal clear sky, exhilarating sun and divine views of the proud and aesthetically snow-covered summits of Kamnik Alps.

The trail was perfectly trodden! Hope it stays that way at least a few more days if anyone feels like visiting these parts. Uphill just hard enough for good boot grip, downhill just soft enough so knees didn't hurt. And no breakthroughs! So crampons and ice axe stayed in the pack. But I did pause a few meters below Kompotelo summit when I realized under some five cm fresh snow lurks an annoying slippery base. It was really scary. Snow on Kompotelo up to the top of the logbook box, on Vrh Korena covers just the legs of the same box. Altogether about five of dry new snow on some thirty of base. Yeah, even spotted two ski tracks on northern slopes of Košutna, and also on Kompotelo and one more from Vrh Korena.

From parking to summits and back didn't meet a soul. Just some ptarmigans above Vrh Korena (strangely none on Kompotelo). Really a nice stolen day!
