Veeery interesting path, from the junction to Špička to below Kanja there is no path, but the markers were super, except on the section from that junction to Konj. Have they renewed them on that section of the path?

The junction for the Kanja path is a bit tricky to find. On the Vršič-Špiček path, at the second (last) junction for Trenta, turn left downhill. You descend this path for 10-15 min to the signpost for Bavški Grintavec, there turn right. The path (towards Kanja) is marked but poorly cleared. Markers are mostly close to the ground. It's possible already before the Trenta junction to turn left (old markers, poorly cleared path, last part pathless, total about 100m) in horizontal direction, then slightly left downhill. You arrive at the same signpost, but avoid the up/down loop.

As far as I remember from last year, when we went from Bavšica over saddle Kanja. Only to Zagorelec. Otherwise we looked for passages also to Šmihelovec. First time we walked here. So I really have no idea where one could go up. We preferred to turn back when we saw that the terrain is quite dangerous for slipping. To Zagorelec there is a nice path, not difficult at all. Here are really remote corners. Also from the other side we looked where one could go up, but everywhere the summit looked inaccessible.

For Šmihelovec you need to head into the gully left of the summit (viewed from Zagorelec). From below it's quite obscured. When you reach the notch go right (on the Bavška side) and then up the scree to the top. Everything is quite loose. When I looked from Kanja at the approach gully from Bavšica (marked), it seemed more problematic to me.

You went too much left and reached the ridge before the notch (it's to the right). At the first picture you should have descended a bit and then diagonally right across to the wide gully.

Aha. So that's it. The descent was quite demanding. Then we went to Zagorelec instead. And from there checked if any other approach is possible somewhere. Thanks for the maybe sometime useful information.
