Three guides, 21 curious trainees, more girls than boys, Gradiško tour was taken by rain. But we proved our knowledge in orientation, day and night. We proved ourselves on a 15 km long hike from Dolenje, to St. Marjeta church, to Planina. Then to Ostri vrh, descent on steep path to Vrtovčeva's birth house. In Šmarje viewing of his monument. A small Pekingese joined us and accompanied us to the end, no matter our urgings to go home...Past Vrtovč to Tevče, short cut and directly to the car. Path was muddy, slippery, little drizzle. Next time we come during Martinmas, in sunny weather, time of glowing ruj, vines and good drops.

On Sunday, November 20th, our society participated in the 20th Vertovec hike. The path runs from Ustje near Ajdovščina, through the village Dolenje to the church of St. Marjeta, then to Planina. Follows ascent to Ostri vrh, where two descent variants are possible. We descended the steeper path, on the shorter section more caution is needed. But it's possible to return 10 minutes on the ascent path, where a normal, easier path leads. Now it was a bit slippery on the steeper part, but it's a short section, then again easy path towards Jakuline, birthplace of Matija Vertovec. In Šmarje the Komenda brass band played for us. They also had stew. Along the entire path, locals prepared lots of goodies, they really made an effort. The path continues through Vrtovče, Tevče and ends in the village Ustje. We had nice views of vineyards, persimmons. From these villages, Čaven is nicely visible, then the ridge from Sinji vrh towards Col and of course partially snow-covered Nanos. Nice to meet acquaintances and friends from all Slovenia, from Selce to Ptuj.
