Italy has so many beautiful places to explore beyond the popular tourist destinations. I’d love to hear about your favourite lesser-known towns, scenic spots, local markets or food places that you think are worth visiting.
Also, how do you usually manage practical things like navigation, finding local recommendations and staying connected when travelling between different regions? Do you rely on local SIMs, travel eSIMs or public Wi-Fi?
I’ve recently been looking into options such as Eterna eSIM for staying connected while travelling, but I’m curious to know what works best for others.

For us the favorite valley right now is Vinschgau/Val Venosta, South Tyrol. We vacation there every summer.
There is no lack of choices for activities, mountains and peaks up to 3000 m, lakes, waterfalls, interesting side valleys, really well-maintained places, hiking paths along canals, nice roads, gondolas and cable cars, castles, villages, mountain farms, museums, the town of Merano, excellent public infrastructure, train and cycling connection throughout the valley and so on and so on, e.g. top-notch ice cream.
In a whole week of active vacation we don't meet any Slovenian, the nearby Dolomites are just more popular. We highly recommend it!
