Where to go in the next few days?

I'm wondering where in the Karawanks one could go in the next few days, given that a lot of snow and rain fell in the west. Where in the Karawanks is there no avalanche danger? (I mean west of Kepa - Vošca?, Trupejevo poldne?, maybe something further east around Stol)

Thanks for the answers!

Yeah thanks - continuing towards Jerebikovec along the ridge not recommended? I mean Kamnati vrh, Bavha, ...

Up to Grpišca it would be possible, but beyond that I don't know.

You can head to Dovška Baba one of the nicest ski touring runs in the western Karawanks!!nasmeh

Baba is a good idea. Last year I was up there - this year it would surely be better than last February, because there's so much snow (on Kredarica it seemed really a lot to me - now it's already a good 3 meters mežikanje)

If you want lots of snow then go via the pilgrims' path to sv. Višarje.

Yeah I agree, last year there was less snow on Baba, this year it's definitely better nasmeh
I'm curious when you were at Kredarica and if you could please describe the route a bit, because I also really want to go to Kredarica.
Thanks a lot for the answer, which you can send me by email:

Last week (Saturday up, Sunday down) we went from Krma valley to the summit. The path is an hour and a half longer than in summer, because the road for the last 7 km to the parking (Štale) is not plowed. Conditions were pleasant, lots of snow. Sinking from 0 to ca. 20 cm. For descent the track was drifted over, because it was windy. Next week safe visit to Kredarica won't be possible, because the path is exposed to avalanches. Under the bivouac we walk on avalanche terrain! Path from Krma not overly demanding. Possibility of ice below, under summit steeper and also dangerous for slipping, so ice axe and crampons are mandatory companions in winter time. Ascent to Triglav summit is serious mountaineering feat (most demanding is first part of path to Mali Triglav).

Oh, the path itself is almost flat in the first part (those 7 km), then in the next hour we ascend somewhat through the forest (sometimes icy here). Soon (at about 1400 m) we come out of the forest onto extensive avalanche fields and across fairly level terrain toward the bivouac. Before the bivouac a steep section awaits us. From the bivouac we ascend to Konjski preval. To the top of Kredarica there is still a long section toward the summit, an ever-steeper part of the path (slopes), where we meet lots of skiers. When our strength is already quite at the end we arrive at Kredarica.
Due to elevation difference, target height and dangers on path the trip is not easy at all, but at least demanding winter tour (despite no technical difficulties in normal conditions).

From Pastirski stan (bivouac) there's no need to go to Konjsko sedlo-pass, because from there you go to Planika, and through Kurica it's also avalanche dangerous, but of course from there also to Kredarica, but why do such a detour and it's not even trodden, unless Žakelj goes up to his hut. Well, for me usually at Kredarica the engine warms up well, strength usually still enough for summit ascent and same day to valley.

That's not exactly the best. Some reserve must remain, either for the summit ascent or descent (skiing) to the valley. If you're really completely at the end when you arrive, it's better to choose something shorter (easier). At least I think so ?!

If you go a bit trekking (fast walking) the last hour, the steepness tires you. Otherwise, we started late, so we went to the hut and slept there too. The tour itself again isn't so bad that it couldn't be done in one day, as triglavski wrote. You just need to start early - if more than two hours by car to the starting point, then it's already quite tough. That walking on the flat, especially downhill, is very strenuous.
