Hello! I'm quite experienced as a summer mountain visitor, but I want winter ascents too. I have crampons and an ice axe, I did a three-day course on safe movement in mountains in winter, now I don't know how to proceed. So I'm asking for all suggestions where to go in the mountains in winter (beginner tours) and also if I could join someone on an easier tour. Maybe a colleague will join too, who also has no winter experience (but has gear). Since we're from Carinthia, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps would be the most suitable for the start. Thanks in advance and best regards!

For the first time, Savinja Saddle is very suitable. If there is enough courage, then also to Ledinski vrh.

If going alone, always go where you've been in dry times.

For easier winter hikes, check peaks that are easy also in summer conditions. Since snow melts fast (despite yesterday's snow), for the winter feel you'll almost need to go a bit higher. From Carinthia, you've probably thought of Peca yourself; safer higher peaks also e.g. on Pokljuka (Debela Peč, Brda, Viševnik). OK, not exactly KSA, but our little country is so small that it shouldn't be (too big) a problem. My first real winter ascent in more snow was e.g. to Kofce and then to Veliki vrh, which still seems a proper level for the start; in KSA such a peak also e.g. Raduha.
