Just like last year we also dashed off to the Alps this year hunting for the pleasures of white intoxication. The young lady Mischka served us this year especially in France with everything that can be served! About our cold adventures I also wrote a photo report with plenty of photos

Ah and does anyone perhaps know why on the first press of "publish" I do something wrong that the URL of the link doesn't show and correction is needed? I do the same and then it works - with the difference that then the post is no longer sorted into the forum it was originally intended for?

Conquering an avalanche is not the right term at all because you don't conquer an avalanche, you just have luck in misfortune and some knowledge/experience to avoid it. Which is better in the first place

I agree with your explanation, the phrase in the given situation gets an inappropriate definition. Conquer the situation... stay calm with a clear head in the moment and avoid the consequences of a catastrophe based on experiences with that bit of luck. We don't conquer natural phenomena, we face them successfully or unsuccessfully...

Last sentence: "We don't conquer natural phenomena, we face them successfully or unsuccessfully..." hits exactly on the spot - essence!
