Y in Vrtača and Begunjščica

Today I was on snow for the first time, if we exclude just that. I walked through the Y gully in Vrtača. Then also in the same-named gully in Begunjščica. Unfortunately, despite the effort and several attempts, I didn't find the passage to the Begunjščica ridge. So I descended back.

Finally you've also just started, now only running around the hills, both gullies are a real treat when conditions are for creaking! Attaching a pic of the exit to the ridge in the right fork Y on B.

Yeah, I totally believe it's cool if it's hard. Last year I already climbed Y, but it was a track. This time there was plenty of snow, but not bonded to the base or hard.

Got any smart plans now for holidays?

Since I can't find a suitable thread, here it is (even if no Begunjščica involved):
Today Vrtača was quite visited, largely thanks to Bojan who "first approached" and described conditions. For me it was first encounter with such a steep gully. Most of it has properly transformed snow, except a couple of spots. Right gully not yet filled, so on steepest part climb on rocks. Left is much better.
Descent via south gully which has enough snow. Now everything nicely trodden.
One great day, just a bit too windy.

Central route in Begunjščica, not much snow.

Today my brother and I headed up the left side into Y. We started a bit earlier, no crowds yet. Snow windblown. Wind soon erased the tracks. When returning via the south back, we met lots of hikers going via the south and also one larger group roped that headed to Y. Initially foggy, but as we went toward the top, fog cleared and it was pleasantly warm. Nice Sunday outing.

I think we'll still need to wait a bit till new snow settles a bit... I was last week and there was quite a lot bare...

Today to Begunjščica via Y gully left side. Sorta like: Crazy postholing, even ass-deep, to Zelenica. Tons of touring skiers today. So postholing too not to ruin their track nasmeh

. While checking Beg. if to go up, spot three already climbing nasmeh

, decision made, even if I'd be fertik nasmeh

. Wind gusting hard, but don't give up. Told self go central gully, supposedly easiest, but no tracks anyone walked, so veer into Y left where some small tracks. Snow on scree to top hard, ideal, nice skinning. Via 2 steps (passages) lack snow, made work harder. Plus strong wind anyway, stronger on top. For 10 min crowded, then down Šentanc. Horror. Snow top to ovinek blown, after bend knee-deep sinking (again nasmeh

) to path. Don't recommend ascent, only descent down.
Safe steps.

P.S. opposite gully end, lots rocks on snow, also bigger slabs, gotta watch, cuz if one hits surely sweeps you!

Depends on when you went, because my friend and I today centrally processed it, and before us there were surely already a couple of people because there were quite a few tracks, and behind us two also climbed up. Almost no wind on the way up, only on the top it really blew through. To Zelenica really at times unpleasant - deep sinking with every step. Tons of people nasmeh
