Za Debelim vrhom - Prehodavci - Zelnarica - Kopica

We've had rather bad weather the whole vacation so at the first forecast of a slight improvement we decided on a two-day tour. The main goal was observing flowers in snow hollows and in the cirque behind Debeli vrh, the rest depending on the weather. On the first day from Blato first through Planina to Lazu we climbed to Lazovski preval. Clear sky and warm sun offered nice prospects ahead. We turned off the path and slowly, while observing flowers and animals, headed towards the valley behind Debeli vrh. Unfortunately fog started rising from the south just when we walked through the rocky labyrinth towards Hribarice. Luckily the fog didn't completely "drown" us. So the planned ascent to Vršaki or Kanjavec was off. On Hribarice we wade through new snow. From Hribarice down the marked path to the hut at Prehodavci. When we refresh a bit in the hut it starts raining and nothing remains but to stay the rest of the day under a warm roof. The hut filled completely by evening and some had to sleep in the dining room. In the evening the rain stopped. The view of the rays of the setting sun between the peaks was really unforgettable. We woke in a clear morning and decided on a return via Zelnarica and Kopica. First we check out ammonite fossils under Vršaki, then climb to Vrata and from there to Zelnarica. We continue to Kopica meanwhile the clouds increase again. We skip Tičarice and via a pathlet over Vodene rupe join the path to Kopica to Planina Dedno polje. There we treat ourselves to excellent sour milk and via Planina pri Jezeru return to Planina Blato. Since we took enough time, we saw really a lot - from flowers, animals, weather phenomena, views.. and of course lots of photos were made, as usual on www.petersfoto.si

Super shots Peter. Nice two-day tour you did (usually in one day, if memory serves from descriptions) and knew to enjoy the surroundings, flowers, animals, last but not least the weather. I'm planning it these days....if weather holds

Peter2, beautiful photo of Green Lake and Zelnarica. Those flowers you newly presented, haven't seen them this year yet either. As I'm newer at recognizing mountain flowers I miss a lot too. The path branching off at Kopica down to Vodene Rupe I don't know, nor noticed anything branching, though passed by two weeks ago and before. L.P.

mukica: yes, we usually do one-day tours. This time, due to the forecast of afternoon worsening of the weather on Wednesday, we didn't want to lose time re-ascending from the valley. It was a good decision. Weather will be better next week, so you'll have excellent conditions for Špičje. Enjoy
