The peak at the end of the ridge in the shelter of the mighty Montaż is solitary, less visited, with exceptionally beautiful views, so we headed exactly there to the mountain paradise
At the end of pl. Pekol, on the way towards Montaža we quickly turned onto steep grass and headed towards Curtissons1

Yesterday we planned to linger and enjoy, as we hadn't been together on a tour for a long time, but the fogs spoiled everything.
It started with a beautiful morning, already below the notch the fogs came up and played tricks on the ridge.
Interesting ridge, the first ascent is the best, then many suspicious parts where it will surely collapse in the future. I thought it would be exciting if an earthquake appeared. The ridge is already yielding and settling in many places, when you look back to the precipitous side, you see why. Not the safest everywhere along the ridge edge. On Zabuš we had enough fog, returned a short section back and descended straight down through the grasses to Pecol.
Fog already appeared below the notch.1
Short, interesting section of the ridge. On the other, descent side, however, crumbly.2
The little one is still completely white.3
There was a lot of bilberry.4
Uh, that ridge would be interesting.5
Here we last saw Strmo peč.6

On Petka is the Mečev ridge. In my opinion even worse than our Cigars.

Definitely, since no known repetition of the first ascent from 1932. Maybe someone who follows Italian climbing news knows more.

Cigars in my opinion have no comparison with this ridge. Here you'd need pitons, much more gear than for our equipped ridge. As you said Drago, it looks like no repetition from that distant year.
But years ago we descended from the end of Zabuš directly down through the grasses towards F.di Vandul. Never again, better return far back to the marked path down. Such steep grasses I haven't seen till now

If there hadn't been fog, we would have continued there. Without views such a ridge doesn't attract me, so we descended straight down to Pecol.
Anyway, the descent from Obljak is also steep.
The Mečev ridge really looks like a ruin, and it's supposed to be V grade. I don't believe I would hammer much there. It's too crumbly, at least from afar it looks that way. The start from top down still looks friendly, I went to check a bit.
But this Jof di Miez tempted me.

On Sunday really many Slovenians set off to the mountains above Pecol pasture, but few turned left under Vrh Strmali. Still it surprised us that there were any at all. We also bumped into an older hiker heading along the ridge right to Strma peč, but he didn't know if he'd have enough time, as a paraglider was waiting for him at the saddle for a flight down to the valley. Well, he went only to Zabuš, and we didn't see the flight either. No proper wind.

The Curtissons and Zabuš ridge can't leave you indifferent under any circumstances. Wonderful views into the distance to the Dolomites and High Tauern, and views into the deep gorges of Clapadoria and Rio Saline like bottomless barrels, but definitely worth looking down there and at the sharp ridges rising above them. A world of wilderness that quickens your heartbeat and shows nature's power felt here at every step. Even the path you're on doesn't feel entirely safe. Sometimes it feels like you're maybe the last one walking these edges, as it seemed to me there were cracks underfoot, along the path everything broken off, crumbled, in short all a bit suspicious.

But it's not just a world of ridges and wild gorges, but also beautiful ibexes resting during our hike mostly on the north side of Zabuš, on the sunny side of dry grasses hardly any. White-headed hawks delighted us too and further brightened the day with their visitnasmeh.

We returned along the path under Forc.Bassa saddle (Spodnja škrbina), which quickly disappears, but no problems as the direction is clear all the way. So basically we did a loop tour, repeating only the descent to the saddle.

Saturday's outing above the Montaževa high plateau provided plenty of beautiful and pleasant things. Despite the almost full parking lot only a few of us to Vrh Strmali, further up to Zabuš and from there down to the hut all alone. And marmots and some bird, no horned or crawling ones noticed. During the outing memories of the book collection, mostly ski touring, hiking of course too, and of course the company I was with, and some of them who sadly went to the other side of the rainbow in past years.

Nice, Bojan nasmeh
this ridge still awaits me too.
As I see you quite often looked down into the depths towards Dunja velik nasmeh it already looks almost a bit scary all together when you look at those peaks around there.

Took advantage of the last "dry" day - Saturday, nice tour with fantastic flora and fauna. Path to both peaks clearly visible, return to valley to parking diagonally down the slope with a bit of ingenuity works too. Definitely recommend in dry weather. Every step on the "ridge" accompanied by ibex and females with young - feeling like in a park on "safari". One of the nicer tours with fantastic views all around. With a bit of ingenuity and caution it goes without major issues - can only recommend such an uncrowded path ...
