Zadnji Pelc, Nizki vrh

On Saturday I climbed from Zadnja Trenta to Zadnji Pelc and Nizki vrh. Started from Zadnja Trenta along the marked path to Planina Zapotok, before that alpine pasture I went up the gully and steep grass to the upper marked path. There I pondered a bit where to go and the names of the peaks. From there through rocky terrain to the scree and then up the gully to the top of the saddle, from the top of the saddle right to the summit of Zadnji Pelc. After snack, photos, rest I headed to Nizki vrh from the saddle. Descended to the marked path which had freshly painted marks and continued below the shelter under Špičkom, quite a lot of up down up down and quite long. At the junction to Jalovec deer were calling, then down to the valley.

Too bad you didn't start from the opposite side, from Pelc above Klonicami. The ridge descends gradually, the double summit Zadnji Pelc can be connected with a short scramble, since above the natural window separating them, there's no more than four meters depth. Of course, they can be connected via the easy and undemanding variant as you described. But in wet conditions it's incomparably MORE DEMANDING and you did right to turn back. Good luck.]]>

My humble opinion is that this route is more logical, and you even have a shelter on the descent... if they don't lock you out. eek]]>

@Dr.ejči: this direction doesn't seem bad to me either (even if there's some abseil from PNK), but the descent from ZP is really awkward and tiring. ]]>

On Sunday, hoping for better weather than forecasted, we set off from Zadnja Trenta via Planina Zapotok towards Zadnji Pelc. When we reached the saddle between Nizki vrh and Zadnji Pelc after a steep gully under which we put on helmets, the decision prevailed that due to safety, the ascent to Zadnji Pelc over wet grass of the steep ridge was not appropriate. Fog had enveloped all walls and ridges, and there was no hope for improvement. Since it was also extremely cold, we quickly left the saddle towards traversing Nizki vrh, then over the saddle Vrh Osojnika, where we admired the sharp ridges of Pihavci, we descended through the Dolič valley to Bavšica. That Dolič is rarely visited we felt most in the part overgrown with tall nettles; everywhere we twisted our ankles and pulled our feet out of various holes between rocks.
The tour impressed us nevertheless, and we teased our leader a bit to repeat it next year. But I would do it already this year!
Some foggy pictures in the attachment.

I borrowed a picture a bit from lijaneja; this is how the approach to the north summit of Zadnji Pelc goes.
circles there are pegs, those on the ridge descend, uphill along the ridge is very difficult imo IV grade. This drawn is II+ one detail maybe II/III1

Started from Bavšica towards Pl. Bukovec. In the lower part first I break through the piled up trees, then mostly on scree all the way to the narrowest part of the Tesni gorge, there I already step onto the marked path. Up to here there is a short section of the marked path not under snow, hard to pass because it is full of fallen trees. From the stream onwards to Pl. Bukovec the path is mostly cleared. At the hunting hut I head towards Dolič, the path is quite traceable. Progress is not difficult as the grass hasn't grown yet. At Vrh Osojnik I turn right towards the saddle between Nizki Vrh and Špičica, then left there. I climb the jagged ridge and look for bypasses, the summit really is the last jagged peak. This approach is much harder than from the saddle with Zadnji Pelc. I descend via Vrh Osojnik towards Prevala. There is practically no path here; whoever doesn't know it will hardly find the right gully lower down that leads to Prevala. In Bali on the marked path there are individual fallen trees, the bypasses are trodden, no major problems. Now is a particularly good time to visit this area when the grass is not yet too high. More than technically, the crossing is demanding in terms of orientation. Winter equipment is not needed.

Yesterday (10.9.2023) from Zadnja Trenta past Planina Zapotok - Za Razorcem - Velika planina cirque - saddle between Nizki vrh and Zadnji Pelc - below the window in the notch between north and south summit of Zadnji Pelc left first to north summit of Zadnji Pelc (II degree, detail near III degree) - return to notch with abseil over the window - to south summit of Zadnji Pelc and easier descent from south summit of Zadnji Pelc back to saddle between Nizki vrh and Zadnji Pelc, a bit around and to the valley. Adding to predecessors' descriptions a more detailed path display for easier orientation. Best possible conditions, which with wet grass can be much more demanding, and orientation between Planina Zapotok and Za Razorcem can be quite difficult in foggy conditions.
Planina Zapotok - bend onto pathless terrain towards Za Razorcem (distant view)1
Here past Planina Zapotok we turn from the marked path towards Za Razorcem first to the grassy ridge2
In the rear part of the grassy ridge (before the rocky barrier) we turn right into the forest and follow a fairly visible track through the forest and a shorter steeper grassy part3
On the small grassy saddle we head slightly right traversing almost without ascent and then left4
View back at the small grassy saddle5
At this larch with a broken side trunk we reach the marked path (from below the shelter under Špička to the Kanja saddle)6
View back7
Past the mentioned larch - view back - right (dashed) shows the mentioned marked path and marked puddle, which together with the mentioned larch importantly orients the path on the return to Planina Zapotok8
Along the marked path for only about 50 m9
Then immediately traverse left into the grass (area Za Razorcem)10
Up through the grass11
View back12

Krnica Velika planina14
At the saddle between Nizki vrh (left) and Zadnji Pelc (right)15
From the mentioned saddle straight up the grassy ridge16
And we spot the key harder part of the tour - the notch between the northern and southern summit of Zadnji Pelc under which a small window is hidden17
Display of the climbing section (II degree, detail near III degree) as predecessors have already shown well (two belays in between and one more at the top)18
