Pelci with the nearby area are also my favorite hills. I explored that end about five years ago. Only Mali Pihavec remains for me, which I plan to do this year. Too bad you didn't start from the opposite side, from Pelc above Klonicami. The ridge descends gradually, the double summit Zadnji Pelc can be connected with a short scramble, since above the natural window separating them, there's no more than four meters depth. Of course, they can be connected via the easy and undemanding variant as you described. But in wet conditions it's incomparably MORE DEMANDING and you did right to turn back. Good luck.

Aha, now I understand which window you were talking about. We didn't even notice it when climbing up above it. But the ridge is "prepared" in the direction from ZP to PNK, if you ask me, since the pegs in the gully above the window are placed for belaying upwards, and from the south summit of Z. Pelc you also have "kroparja" pegs for help on the descent over steep grass, which I agree are very dangerous when wet. Also on Pelc above Klonocami there's a prepared stance for abseil descent. My humble opinion is that this route is more logical, and you even have a shelter on the descent... if they don't lock you out.

@lijaneja: on this forum I noticed that most of you go in the opposite direction to what we did, so I was a bit surprised to see that the description in the book goes in the opposite direction. In the end we chose the direction of the guidebook description (easier descent when you get behind the Castle) @Dr.ejči: this direction doesn't seem bad to me either (even if there's some abseil from PNK), but the descent from ZP is really awkward and tiring.

The Pinje ridge is so beautiful that it would be a shame to climb it downwards.

On Sunday, hoping for better weather than forecasted, we set off from Zadnja Trenta via Planina Zapotok towards Zadnji Pelc. When we reached the saddle between Nizki vrh and Zadnji Pelc after a steep gully under which we put on helmets, the decision prevailed that due to safety, the ascent to Zadnji Pelc over wet grass of the steep ridge was not appropriate. Fog had enveloped all walls and ridges, and there was no hope for improvement. Since it was also extremely cold, we quickly left the saddle towards traversing Nizki vrh, then over the saddle Vrh Osojnika, where we admired the sharp ridges of Pihavci, we descended through the Dolič valley to Bavšica. That Dolič is rarely visited we felt most in the part overgrown with tall nettles; everywhere we twisted our ankles and pulled our feet out of various holes between rocks. The tour impressed us nevertheless, and we teased our leader a bit to repeat it next year. But I would do it already this year! Some foggy pictures in the attachment.

I borrowed a picture a bit from lijaneja; this is how the approach to the north summit of Zadnji Pelc goes.
