Between the hills and slopes of Notranjska two beautiful streams Zala and Iška are hidden. Starting point is about a kilometer before the village Osredek on the road north towards Zala. Along the road a couple hundred meters, then right on the marked footpath down to Zala. Follow Zala along the flow to the confluence of Zala and Iška where we turn right and go upstream along Iška to Črni potok where we reach the road which brings us after cca 2 km to the starting point.
Not exactly a mountain tour, but still some climbing and cca 300 elevation meters.

Zala is beautiful, to hike all the waterfalls though you need to start a bit higher. Right after the village Zala there is a turnoff right that leads us to the largest waterfalls. For such a tour it's smart to use two cars, since otherwise the return to the starting point can be quite long. We usually take the bike somewhere near the goal and then one bikes back for the car

Given record temperatures, Iška is a good choice to cool the overheated head. This time from source at Lužarji to Osredek, which makes 10 km walk in the riverbed. No heat problems of course, Iška takes care of cooling and fun

hi,
interests me - how with passability: if go from Iški Vintgar (hut) to Krvava peč - bridges ok, path passable? If from Krvava peč to Osredek - need to ford Iška and then, from Osredek to Rakitno - footbridge still there - or washed away...?

Maybe someone knows at this address: pdsvetivid@pzs.si as this club maintains at least one path section there.
Here (under paths and huts) it says paths open: http://www.planinska-zveza.si/drustva.php?pid=181. Last time at Vrbica, footbridge from Osredek to Rakitno was gone. But at least a year since then.
In Iška and Zala probably some fording. Of course, if not too much due to temp and possible high water.

Thanks, Zvezdan, for info. Iško already forded, Zala bed at least where path is quite deep... Well, I'll learn something from PD Sv. Vid too!

Today learned both footbridges at hut in Iški Vintgar even collapsed  . Pulled one from water just today.
If no answer from PD Sveti Vid, farm tourism in Osredek might know something.

Well if pulled footbridge maybe soon replace with new. We'll see...
