Because I got up too late for anything concrete, after coffee and proper waking up I felt like going somewhere, so I set off from the Valley towards Kal. The path is steep from start to end, in places really hellishly icy and covered with newly fallen snow - how hard ice can be, I felt it myself too. cool

At the top it was windy, no views, cold, but it was something for fitness mežikanje

I also headed out today from Doline to Planina na Kalu, a bit for mushroom picking, a bit hiking variant.
On pastures now morels grow nicely and some young ones a bit below Kal pass. I circle Kobel peak with dense spruces and run into only huge red fly agarics, visible from afar-like signals. Next climb past Bela peč to Kofce, from there to Planina Šija. No trace of Jurčki. Picked some really tiny ones on the plateau end of road to Kofce. On Šija sit a bit, up comes mountain biker girl with legendary bike Hoger-Boger (old MTBers know it). First time here on tour, explain to MTB girl path over Kofce to Jelendol. From there shortened path and descended directly from Šija down grasses and spruces. And behold, not 100m below hut stumble in tall grass on two huge caps. First check bottom what sort. Wow-big Jurček! how heavy they were. Luck smiled after long path unexpectedly. Even below in forest zig-zag no more edible mushrooms spotted.
What better than nice trip and 1300g healthy Jurček meat, morels for two fried dinners. nasmeh

And jelly one-Orange latvica-Orange cup-edible raw or with liqueur with pleasant color similar to dried southern fruit slices

Big ones, one 850g, the other 450g, total 1300g boletes!

Today's harvest wasn't as bad as it first seemed.

Almost 1kg giant was completely healthy as a bonus - grew at 1500m.

Viharnik, we almost would have met, I was thinking about Kal today too, then obligations held me back. But now reading this about morels I'm a bit sorry... I was up there last 1 week ago, of mushrooms only fly agarics... but it was hot up there, while it was cold in the valley.

Yesterday from Podljubelj to Shelter on Kal. Shelter open and open all weekends if nice weather. Along path now lots of wild garlic, towards Završnik Austrians pick it into wooden crates.
Path nice and normally passable.

Tadej when you go up next time tell them if no traffic it's because luck escapes them. They have horseshoe upside down !! velik nasmeh

Bench story: Lojze was a mountaineer who could also twice weekly from Tržič hike over Kal saddle to Košuta foothills and also to Košuta summits. At this spot he made the bench. After his early death his friends renovated the dilapidated bench in memory.
