From the Ljubljana - Koper highway we take the Brezovica exit, then continue driving towards Dobrova and Polhov Gradec. At the end of the village Gabrje we will arrive at a marked intersection, where a road towards the villages Belo, Osredek and Topol branches off to the right. Here we park at an appropriate place by the transformer, or already a little before on one of the appropriate places by the road.
Path description:
On the other side of the road from the transformer, we will notice hiking signposts for Topol, which direct us onto a rough forest road that ascends on the right side of one of the houses. The road ahead ascends relatively steeply and quickly brings us to a smaller interesting cave from which a spring emerges. From there we continue along the road for some time, then, when we step out of the forest, just a few meters before the smaller hamlet we continue left onto the marked footpath. The path ahead first ascends over a panoramic grassy ridge, then returns into the forest, through which it ascends for the next few minutes. Higher we step onto a grassy hayfield and walk across it to the macadam road. We continue along the road only for a short time, then signs for Katarina direct us left onto the footpath, which further moderately ascends through the forest. Higher the trail for a short time entirely flattens, then brings us to the road that leads from Toško čelo towards Katarina. We follow the road to the left, which in a gentle descent brings us to a smaller intersection by which a cross stands.
At the cross we continue left and ascend on the gentle partly asphalt road to the Vaška krčma, by which we notice the next hiking signposts. Here we continue right in the direction of Sveti Jakob and proceed along the relatively steep road, on which in a few minutes we arrive at a larger chapel.
At the chapel we continue left (right Jeterbenk and church of St. Katarina) and past the homestead Na Vihri ascend to the end of the road. From the end of the road we continue on a wide cart track that ascends to a water catchment, then starts gently descending towards a smaller hamlet, which we reach in a few minutes. Here we bypass the houses on the right side and the path brings us to a panoramic meadow. Across the meadow with nice views we walk to the foot of Sveti Jakob, where from the right the path from the village Sora joins. We continue on the cart track, then just a few meters ahead we turn right onto the steep footpath, on which in 5 minutes we ascend to the panoramic summit.
