Klippitztörl - Gertrusk (Saualpe)

Access to starting point:
A) Via the Ljubelj border crossing we drive to Austria and follow the signs for Celovec / Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. In Celovec, at McDonald's, we turn right onto the south bypass / Südring, at the next major intersection we turn right again towards Velikovec / Völkermarkt and Mostič / Brückl. We soon leave the road towards Velikovec as shortly after the Obi store we turn right towards the highway and Mostič. Continuing, we pass the Ikea store, where we follow the signs for Mostič and past the highway on-ramps. When we arrive in Mostič we follow the signs for Svinec / Eberstein and Hüttenberg. Still before Hüttenberg, more precisely past the settlement Mösel, we turn right towards the pass Klippitztörl and settlement Lölling. Further on, we begin to ascend more noticeably through the valley of the stream Löllingbach, higher up, past the settlement Lölling, we gradually distance ourselves also from the stream. We follow this road all the way to the pass Klippitztörl, where we turn right and park on the larger asphalt parking lot.
B) Via the border crossings Jezerski Vrh, Holmec or Vič we drive to Austria, then we follow the signs for Velikovec / Völkermarkt, from there the signs for Mostič / Brückl. When we arrive in Mostič we follow the signs for Svinec / Eberstein and Hüttenberg. Still before Hüttenberg, more precisely past the settlement Mösel, we turn right towards the pass Klippitztörl and settlement Lölling. Further on, we begin to ascend more noticeably through the valley of the stream Löllingbach, higher up, past the settlement Lölling, we gradually distance ourselves also from the stream. We follow this road all the way to the pass Klippitztörl, where we turn right and park on the larger asphalt parking lot.

Path description:
At the beginning of the parking lot, signs for Geierkogel, Wolfsbergerhütte, Forstalpe and other destinations direct us to a path that continues above the parking lot and leads us towards the south. Initially we walk on a wide mountain path (not road), which ascends only gently; after crossing a macadam road, the path gradually becomes slightly steeper and brings us to a marked junction.
We continue on the right path in the direction of the hut Wolfsbergerhütte (left path over Geierkogel), which further in a traversing ascent crosses the slopes to the right. A little further we cross the forest road once again, then for some time we ascend gently traversing. When we leave the forest we ascend somewhat more steeply to an indistinct ridge, where from the left a roughly half-hour longer path joins, leading over Geierkogel.
We continue towards the south and ascend moderately along the fence, from which higher up we veer slightly to the right. When we reach 2000 meters above sea level, soon on the right we notice an interesting natural window, where the stamp of the Forstalpe summit is located. We continue on the marked path, and soon on the left we notice a smaller rise, which is the highest point of the mentioned summit; the summit is recognized by the number 398.
From the summit of Forstalpe the path leads fairly gently towards the southwest and through a grassy and partly boggy section brings us to the junction at Hafeneck, where we continue slightly right in the direction of Velika Svinja / Ladinger Spitz (left Kleinhinterbergerhütte).
The path continues without major elevation changes, the ridge narrows somewhat further on, and the path leads us with a few short easy ascents and descents. When we are already very close to the grassy summit of Kienberg, the marked path turns slightly right and bypasses the highest point, which we reach in less than a minute of walking off the marked path.
We continue on the marked path, which proceeds along the grassy ridge, gradually transitioning to the fence along which we begin to descend to the saddle at the cross Eisernes Kreuz (1958 m), where the path from the hut Weissbergerhütte also joins.
We continue south, where the path forks. We take the slightly left path (the right path bypasses the summit Gertrusk), which along the ridge ascends to the panoramic Gertrusk in a few minutes.
