Mače - Dom na Kališču (via Kozjek)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice we go to the exit Kranj - east, and then we continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we get to Preddvor we leave the main road and continue driving left towards the center of the mentioned settlement, from there we follow the signs for Mače. When we get to Mače, at the marked junction we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (church isn't accessible with a car)) and on a narrow road we drive above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana we go to the exit Kranj - west and at the first junction we continue left. Further, we drive through the underpass below the highway, and then we get to a roundabout, from where we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The path ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. Next follows driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela to Zgornja Bela, where we continue right towards Preddvor. In Preddvor we notice signs for Mače, which point us to the left past the primary school on a road which ascends to Mače. When we get to Mače, at the marked junction we continue right (left Bašelj, straight church of St. Miklavž (church isn't accessible with a car)) and on a narrow road we drive above the village, where there is a larger marked parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue in the direction of Kališče and continue on the forest road closed to public traffic. The road, which ascends relatively steeply, after a good 20 minutes of walking brings us to a marked junction, where the usual path to Kališče branches off to the left, and we continue right and proceed on an increasingly worse forest road. Only a little higher we come to the bottom station of the cargo cableway that goes to Kališče, the road then gradually changes into a wide cart track. The ascent ahead is, due to the labyrinth of cart tracks, orientationally a little harder, but if we carefully follow the blazes, we cannot miss. Higher, the cart track changes into a steep footpath, which after some time brings us to the ridge of Kozjek. Here the path flattens and turns left, where after a few minutes of further walking it brings us to a marked junction.
We continue left in the direction of Storžič and Kališče (right Srednji vrh, Hudičev boršt, Potoška gora and sv. Jakob) on the path which further crosses the slopes to the left. During the crossing we will come to a smaller scree field, from which the first view towards the valley opens up. A short crossing follows and the path brings us into the valley of Suha, where a somewhat shorter unmarked path joins from the left.
We continue in the direction of Kališče and continue the ascent on a gradually steeper path. The path ahead ascends through dense forest for some time, then brings us to the foot of rocky cliffs and only a little higher to the ridge, where just a few meters from the path we notice a small cottage. Here the path turns right and steeply ascends over a shorter rocky step. The path here flattens and a few meters further joins the usual path that leads to Kališče.
We continue in the direction of Kališče and continue the ascent on a moderately steep path, on which in 5 minutes of further walking we arrive at the Planinski dom na Kališču.
