Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana-Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where you reach a junction and continue right towards Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina, at the junction by the chapel, turn sharply left onto the ascending road towards Planina Blato, Planina Vogar and Voje valley. The road then leads to the toll and parking fee point, from which we follow it further to the next junction, turning left (right to Voje). Then follow the road to the next junction (after quite some driving), where turn sharply right towards Planina Blato (straight to Planina Vogar). Follow this road to the parking lot above Planina Blato.
Route description:
From the marked parking lot in front of Planina Blato, go back a bit and head onto a wide and initially steep cart track marked towards Planina pri Jezeru. After about ten minutes of ascent, reach a marked junction, from which continue slightly right towards Planina v Lazu (left Koča na Planini pri Jezeru).
Further on, the path leads through the forest, gently ascending to a junction a few minutes away, where a steep path branches left towards Planina pri Jezeru.
Here the path to Planina v Lazu turns right and gradually becomes steeper again, traversing through the forest for some time, higher entering the forested valley Pri deklici. The path continues northwest, ascending through spruce forest. Higher, where the forest flattens, reach an unmarked junction, where an unmarked shortcut branches right towards Ogradi and Planina Krstenica; we follow the gentle path to a marked junction near Planina v Lazu.
Here a marked path branches sharply right towards Planina Krstenica and Ogradi, we continue straight towards Planina v Lazu and reach it in a few minutes of moderate descent; there are numerous shepherds' huts, and a cheese dairy in the middle.
At the first huts on the pasture, from the marked junction go right towards Lazovski preval and Vodnikov dom na Velem polju (slightly left Planina pri Jezeru and Planina Dedno polje) and start ascending through sparse forest. A few minutes higher, leave the forest; the path levels out briefly, then becomes steeper, leading past ruins and under Ogradi screes. After a bit more than one hour from Planina v Lazu, reach Lazovski preval, a junction of several paths; turn left onto an unmarked path (slightly left Mišeljski preval and Vodnikov dom, slightly right Planina Jezerce, right Ogradi via unmarked ridge path), which is less trodden further. Follow ascent through dwarf pine belt, above it reach grassy slopes east of Debeli vrh. Here the path turns further left towards the gully in Debeli vrh, aided by numerous cairns. The path crosses the gully and behind it steeply ascends southern grassy slopes. The increasingly scenic path leads to the ridge, then mainly westwards. Follow the wide ridge to the 2362 m forepeak, where many hikers end; the path to the main peak continues west, technically more demanding, difficult and exposed.
From the forepeak, descend into the gully requiring some scrambling, then steeply ascend the exposed slope to the ridge. The ridge path is no longer demanding, summit in a few minutes.
Starting point - Pri deklici 1:00, Pri deklici - junction before Planina v Lazu 0:35, junction before Planina v Lazu - Planina v Lazu 0:05, Planina v Lazu - Lazovski preval 1:05, Lazovski preval - forepeak 1:10, forepeak - Debeli vrh 0:15.

Along the route: Pri deklici (1463m), Razpotje pred Planino v Lazu (1602m),
Planina v Lazu (1560m), Lazovški preval (1966m), Predvrh (2362m), Sedlo na Debelem vrhu (2339m)

From Lazoviški preval, a completely different world. Beautiful in the sun, in fog from personal experience I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Have you noticed that only Bohinj people always and everywhere collect parking and road fees, but arrange nothing...? ...as far as I'm concerned it's not about a few EUR... but I avoid paths from the Bohinj end wherever like the devil avoids the cross...!

They charge parking fees, then asphalt the road towards Vojam, also towards planina Blato there is some new asphalt. Verified 12.08.09.

Why is the road toll so important, rather describe the nice moments on the path and at the summit itself. The feeling when you reach the top can't be paid for with money (at least for me)

Parking at the lot in Vratih is 2.50 €, at Blato 10 €. Why such a difference??? Never mind. Can someone describe the route from predvrh to the summit. Is it really that difficult and exposed? Thanks and best regards.

Instead of the known tedious scramble past the distinctive rock, better look shortly before predvrh to the south side under the ridge and stroll along the ledge waiting just for you into the notch.

We used the beautiful autumn Sunday for a family visit to Debeli (pred)vrh. Sun, autumn colors, no wind and peace accompanied us all day - in short, fairy-tale like. Pictures are at: Debeli vrh P.S.: Tolls were not collected (at least not at 7 a.m.).

If you proceed to Debeli vrh via the described approach, below the summit head on the eastern ridge notice the characteristic chimney-like red rocks (and cairns marking another path through the red scree) - at this point look left, where a cairn leads straight ahead (not up to the forepeak), then even a bit down, and via narrow ledges you can bypass the annoying notch spot for many. The couloir from the forepeak to the notch is also passable - with hand use. Good luck.

And does anyone know if access is possible from Doliča via the path west of Mišeljski konec (via Hribaric)? Thanks also for any other information regarding other accesses to the summit.

Cairns lead you to Debeli vrh past the western side of Vrh Hribaric to the saddle, from where the access to the summit (I - II) is very easy.

After two years, on Sunday we visited Debeli vrh again (this time using the "bypass" around the notch described by Šodrovec and Atoamac). The path took us from Blato to Krstenica, Jezerski Stog, Lazovski preval, Debeli vrh and past planina Laz back to Blato. Some snapshots full of autumn colors are at the following link: Jezerski Stog and Debeli vrh

We spiced up the path to Debeli vrh with an ascent pathless from the west side. There is not even a visible trail, so we enjoyed searching for passages, especially in the lower part of the path. But there were so many gentians on the path as I have never seen anywhere before smile We did a circular tour: Planina Blato - Planina v Lazu - west pathless - past Konjske police - NW ridge - Debeli vrh - Lazovski preval - Ogradi - back pathless to Planina Blato. The tour was extremely interesting and the day was gorgeous, so we took plenty of time on the summits to enjoy the fantastic views big smile More photos and tour description are published on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.pdmaticams-drustvo.si/

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day on Debeli vrh. I was happy to see gentians, as I haven't seen many this year. Went from Planina Blato - Laz - Lazovski preval - Debeli vrh - Lazovski preval - Jezerce - Krstenica - Blato. I was enchanted by Laz and Krstenica. Time stops here.

Approximately how much time do you need from Blato via Laza to Stog and then to Debeli vrh?

Went yesterday 16.7. on the alternative path, from Planina Blato I missed the path because the signpost pole was down. Went to the planina by the lake and from there to Planina v Lazu. On the way back I took the right path and arrived back at the path by the fallen signpost. 🤦♂️
