Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Vodice or Brnik exit, or alternatively Kranj - east, and follow the road further in the direction of Cerklje na Gorenjskem. In Cerklje, continue on the main road (direction Adergas), which we then follow to the village Trata, where signs for Adergas direct us to the right. Further, we drive on a somewhat narrower road, which we then follow to the large parking lot in front of the former monastery in Adergas.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue on the asphalt road which continues on the left side of the wall of the former monastery. We follow the mentioned road to the first left turn, where signs for Štefanja gora direct us to the right onto a footpath. After a few dozen steps of additional walking, the marked path turns to the left and begins to ascend more steeply. Soon the steepness eases and from the left the path from the water catchment joins us. We continue slightly right past a smaller shrine on a gentle path which continues on and along the cart track, which is usually quite muddy a few days after rain. A little further, the path from Velesovo also joins from the left side, and we continue on the wide and gentle cart track. The easy path then brings us to a marked junction, beside which a small chapel is located.
We continue right in the direction of "klopce" (left "šterne") on the cart track, which gradually begins to ascend moderately. Higher up, the path brings us to three successive benches (klopce), from which a nice view of Gorenjska opens up. The cart track then enters the forest, changes into a quite steep footpath, which soon flattens and brings us out of the forest onto a wide grassy slope, across which we walk in a few minutes to the asphalt road and then to the tourist farm Pr Mežnarju.
From the farm we continue on one of two paths, which ascend over a partly steep grassy slope. After good 5 minutes of additional walking, we step onto Štefanja gora, on which stands the church of St. Stephen.
