Bad Kleinkirchheim - Kaiseburg

Access to starting point:
A) Through the Karawanks Tunnel, we drive to Austria, and then we continue driving on the Tauern motorway, which we leave already at the Villach bypass and continue driving towards the places Treffen am Ossiacher See, Afritz am See, Feld am See, and after the mentioned place we turn right towards the known ski centre Bad Kleinkirchheim. We park on a large parking lot opposite the gas station.
B) From Styria or Carinthia, we first drive to Dravograd and then across the border crossing Vič into Austria, where we follow the signs for Klagenfurt. Further, we drive on the so-called South motorway, which we leave at Klagenfurt (direction Feldkirchen). Further, we drive on a regional road, by which we arrive in the already mentioned place. In Feldkirchen, we continue right in the direction of the Turacher Höhe pass and drive further past the places Himmelberg, Gnesau, Mitterdorf to the place Wiedweg, where we continue left towards the known ski centre Bad Kleinkirchheim. We park on a large parking lot opposite the gas station.

Path description:
On the eastern edge of the parking lot, we will notice an asphalt path which after a few meters of walking along the stream brings us to a narrower asphalt road, where we notice signs for Talweg, Rottenstein and Kaiserburg. For some time we ascend along the asphalt road which leads us among houses, then we arrive at a marked junction, where we continue left over a small bridge which crosses the stream Ottingerbach (right leads the road to Waldtratte and further to the upper station of the circular cabin cable car).
On the other side of the stream, the path turns right and continues ascending along the edge of the forest. For some time we ascend along a quite overgrown path which higher crosses a cart track, after which it enters dense forest. Higher the path widens, then after a further few-minute ascent it brings us to a wide cart track, which we follow to the right. The path ahead crosses a larger clearing, then the increasingly wide cart track leads us over a small bridge, after which we arrive at a marked junction.
After the small bridge we continue left into dense forest (right along the road to Waldtratte 20 minutes), then the path turns right and after a shorter steep ascent brings us to the edge of the ski slope. For a short time we continue along the ski area, then the path leads us onto a cart track, along which we ascend in a few minutes to the place where the marked path crosses another wider cart track. We continue straight uphill along a moderately steep mountain path, which higher brings us to a small mountain pasture where a few wooden huts stand.
On the pasture we step onto a gravel road, along which we ascend in a few minutes to the next marked junction, which is located at the lower station of two cable cars.
Here we continue right in the direction of the summit Wöllaner Nock, along a path which quickly brings us to the hut at the lower station of the "right" cable car. Here the path disappears, but we continue under the drag lift, where we quickly notice the markings and occasionally a poorly trodden path. Higher the path becomes more visible, then it turns right, where it starts to disappear again. Further we cross a ski slope, and the path a little higher brings us to a forest road, along which we walk to the sharp left bend, at which a marked footpath branches off to the right downhill to the hut Rossalmhütte.
Here we continue left (right Rossalmhütte 2 minutes) and walk along the road for about 50 m more, then the markings direct us slightly right onto a marked footpath which begins to ascend more steeply along the grassy ridge. Along this path, from which increasingly beautiful views open up, we ascend in a few minutes to the upper station of the circular cabin cable car, from where we ascend to Kaiserburg in 2 minutes.
