Bagnoli della Rosandra - Val Rosandra

Access to starting point:
Leave the Primorska motorway at the Kastelec/Socerb exit. Cross the Slovenian-Italian border at the Socerb border crossing and descend along the road over the karst edge. Past the villages of Dolina and Kroglje, we arrive at Boljunec / Bagnoli della Rosandra, where we park in front of the France Prešeren Cultural Centre.

Path description:
From the center of Boljunec, we set off on foot along a narrow street towards Gornji Konec / Bagnoli Superiore and after approx. 800 meters we reach the Mario Premuda mountain hut. From there we follow the good markings and head along the valley of the Glinščica River past the remains of a Roman aqueduct. The first goal is the small church of St. Mary on the Rocks, from where we can climb a steep path behind the church to the Comicijev turn viewpoint, where a beautiful view opens up of Trieste and the Gulf of Trieste. On the other side we can observe the route of the former Kozina-Trieste railway line, along which we will return to the starting point. We return along the same path to the church and continue along the valley past the Supet waterfall to the border village of Botač (there is also a stamp on the Slovenian side here). From the village of Botač we ascend along a narrow forest path to the route of the former railway line, which we reach right behind the tunnel. We continue the path in the direction of Trieste, pass through two tunnels and then turn left onto a narrow forest path and on the way to the hut we also stop at the Zabrežec / Mocco viewpoint. Then we follow the direction signs and return to the hut.
