Bašelj - Planina Kališče (on forest road)

Access to starting point:
A) From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Kranj - east, and then continue driving in the direction of Jezersko. When we arrive in Preddvor, we leave the main road and continue driving left towards the center of the mentioned settlement; from there, we follow the signs for the settlement Bašelj. When we arrive in Bašelj, at the spot where the main road makes a long left turn, we leave it and continue driving straight in the direction of Gamsova pot. We continue driving on a narrow asphalt road which leads us between the houses and along the stream Belica. We park on the parking lot by the Tourism Association Bašelj.
B) From the highway Jesenice - Ljubljana, we take the exit Kranj - west and at the first intersection continue left. We then drive through the underpass below the highway and arrive at a roundabout, from which we continue driving in the direction of Golnik. The route ahead leads us through the settlement Mlaka pri Kranju, and at the end of the settlement we continue right in the direction of the settlement Srakovlje. This is followed by driving through Srakovlje, Spodnja Bela, Srednja Bela, Zgornja Bela (in Zgornja Bela we join the road from Preddvor) to Bašelj, where the main road makes a long left turn; we leave it and continue driving straight in the direction of Gamsova pot. We continue driving on a narrow asphalt road which leads us between the houses and along the stream Belica. We park on the parking lot by the Tourism Association Bašelj.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue in the direction of the source of Belica, Kališče and Storžič (left Gamsov raj) on the macadam road closed to public traffic, which bypasses the hut of the Sports Tourist Park Belica on the right side. The road, from which a nice view of Storžič first opens up to us, leads us past the football and basketball courts and brings us to a marked junction at the road turning area in about 10 minutes.
From the turning area, we continue left in the direction of Kališče on the forest road (right Kališče on the marked path). We continue on the worse forest road, from which a cart track soon branches off slightly to the left, leading towards Gradišče, St. Lovrenc and Kališče past the Košuta hospital; we continue slightly right on the worse road, which a little further crosses the Belica stream. After the stream, the road turns into a wide cart track, which then begins to ascend more steeply. During the ascent, the cart track crosses several torrents, from it we occasionally get some views, otherwise we mostly ascend through the forest. On a few shorter sections, the marked path from Bašelj joins us (the path that turned right at the turning area), and higher up the more beaten path from Mače also joins us.
From the spot where the path from Mače joins us, we walk along the road only a short time longer, as a large arrow on a tree then directs us right into the forest. The path further transitions to a steeper slope and ascends relatively steeply in numerous zigzags. Higher up, the forest thins out temporarily and a nice view towards the south opens up to us. On the section of sparse forest, a wooden bench also provides a pleasant rest, and a little further a still-functioning clock on a tree "surprises" us. In the continuation, we traverse somewhat more to the right for a while, so that we reach the forested southern ridge of Kališče. On this ridge, the path turns sharply left, then ascends in a few zigzags to Spodnje Kališče, from where a beautiful view of Storžič opens up to us.
