Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Ljubelj and follow the road ahead in the direction of Tržič. Just before the gas station at Tržič, we turn right (direction Tržič) and then immediately left (direction Begunje). Soon after Bistrica pri Tržiču, a macadam road branches off sharply to the right towards Vila Bistrica. Here we turn right and park at a suitable spot beside the road.
Path description:
From the crossroads we continue on the macadam road in the direction of Vila Bistrica. The road, which gently ascends, brings us to asphalt in a few minutes, where we arrive at a crossroads next to which there is a chapel.
Immediately behind the chapel we continue sharply left onto a cart track that bypasses the nearby residential house on the left side (nearby we also notice the mountaineering markers for Dobrča and Bistriška planina). The cart track quickly enters the forest and relatively steeply ascends to a sort of ridge, from which we occasionally get some views towards Kriška gora and Gorenjska. When the ridge ends we continue on the right cart track, which returns to the forest, and we follow it to a more grassy area (named Na planincah).
In the continuation, the cart track occasionally ascends quite steeply, then brings us to several successive junctions where it levels out. At the junctions we carefully follow the blazes, which eventually lead us from the cart track onto a forest path. The fairly gentle path then brings us to Bistriška planina in a few minutes.
On Bistriška planina we step onto the road and walk along it to the left, where after a few steps we step onto another wider road. We follow the other road uphill and continue along the edge of Bistriška planina. The road ahead moderately ascends through the forest and then brings us to Breška planina, where a hunting cottage stands.
We continue on the road, which returns to the forest, and which gradually starts to ascend more steeply. Higher up we reach a marked junction, where a marked footpath from Brezje pri Tržič joins from the left, and we continue sharply right on the gradually steeper cart track. This is followed by about 20 minutes of walking on the mentioned cart track, after which the path brings us out of the forest to the lower part of Lešanska planina. We continue uphill across the mountain pasture, where we soon arrive at an unmarked junction.
We continue right (left: shepherd's hut on Lešanska planina 50 metres and option to continue the path towards Koča na Dobrči and Dobrča) and continue the gentle ascent along the edge of the mountain pasture. After a few minutes of further walking, or more precisely a few metres behind the hunting observatory, we continue left, where we steeply ascend on a well-visible path to the upper edge of the mountain pasture, where we again step onto the cart track that we left at the hunting observatory. We follow the cart track left and diagonally ascend along it to the marked path that leads from Koča na Dobrči towards the summit of Dobrča. Here we continue sharply right and after 5 minutes of further walking we arrive at the summit.
From Dobrča we continue in the direction of Šentanski vrh on the path that first descends into a small valley between the two summits, then moderately ascends and brings us to Šentanski vrh after some 10 steps of further walking.
