Bitenjska planina - Altemaver (Ratitovec)

Access to starting point:
We drive to Bohinjska Bistrica and continue driving towards Soriška planina. After a few kilometers of ascent we arrive at a crossroad, where the road towards Soriška planina branches off sharply to the right, and we continue straight in the direction of Železniki and Škofja Loka. Further on, we drive for approximately 1 km, then we arrive at a smaller crossroad, where the road towards Ribčeva planina branches off to the right. At the crossroad there are signs for Ribčeva planina and Ratitovec. We park a few meters before the crossroad on a macadam parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot we first walk to the nearby crossroad, where we notice the first signs for Ratitovec.
We continue right on the road in the direction of Ratitovec, and the initially still asphalt road quickly leads us into a dense forest. We walk along the mentioned road for approximately 10 minutes, then the blazes direct us slightly to the left onto a marked footpath, which continues along a grassy cart track, the latter along the stream Bitenjski graben. Higher we return to the road, which we reach right at the smaller crossroad. We continue on the upper right road, along which we quickly arrive at Ribčeva planina.
From Ribčeva planina we continue on the road, which a little higher brings us to a crossroad, where we continue right. From the crossroad we walk along the road for approximately 2 minutes, then the signs for the footpath to Ratitovec direct us left onto a marked cart track, which higher turns into a somewhat steeper mountain path, which soon crosses a forest road and flattens behind it. On the other side of the road we continue along the cart track, then quickly leave it as the blazes direct us right onto a forest path, which initially ascends moderately, then gradually descends to the nearby forest road, which we follow to the left. We continue the ascent along the road, along which we walk to its end in a few minutes, where there is a larger parking lot and turning point.
From the parking lot we continue on a wide cart track, which begins to ascend relatively steeply through the forest. After approximately 10 minutes of walking the cart track flattens, then a little further it brings us to the huts on Planina Pečana.
A few steps above the mentioned huts we come out of the forest onto grassy slopes, and we continue along the right side of the planina for just a few more meters, then at the fork we continue right in the direction of Krekova koča (straight Kosmati vrh). The path ahead begins to ascend moderately through increasingly sparse spruce forest. Higher we finally step out of the forest onto the extensive pastures of Ratitovec, where we leave the cart track and continue the ascent along a somewhat less visible but marked little path, which after a few minutes of further walking brings us to the summit slopes of Ratitovec, where we join the path Krekova koča - Altemaver.
Here we continue right (left Krekova koča 5 minutes) and begin to ascend more steeply beside the pasture fence. After a few minutes of ascent the path brings us to the eastern forepeak of Altemaver. A short descent follows, then the marked path turns slightly to the right. Right at the place where the marked path leading towards Soriška planina turns slightly to the right we leave it and continue the ascent along a well-visible path in the direction of the summit Altemaver, which continues along the ridge of Ratitovec. We then follow this scenic path to the highest peak of Ratitovec, which we reach after a few dozen steps of further walking.
