Bizeljska vas - Castle Kunšperk

Access to starting point:
A) From Brežice or Krško we drive to Bizeljsko, and from there we continue driving towards Bistrica ob Sotli. When we get to a smaller mountain pass we leave the main road and we continue left towards Svete gore. We park on an appropriate place immediately after the crossroad. Higher by the road the parking is prohibited.
B) From the direction Šentjur, Šmarje pri Jelšah or Rogaška Slatina we drive to Kozjansko or all the way to the settlement Bistrica ob Sotli, and from there we continue driving towards Bizeljsko. When we get to the saddle between Bizeljsko and Kozjansko, we continue sharply right in the direction of shrine Svete gore. We park on an appropriate place immediately after the crossroad. Higher by the road the parking is prohibited.

Path description:
From the saddle, we go on the path in the direction of castle Kunšperk. The path at first leads by farms, where we gently ascend, and after some time the road becomes asphalted. Next follows a steeper ascent and we arrive at the next saddle, where a chapel stands.
From here we continue right downwards, then the path leads us by Bizeljsko castle, which we bypass on the left side. We continue on the asphalt path, and the asphalt then ends.
The path ahead leads us on a forest road by vineyards, from where a view opens up on Bizeljska vas and on a part of Croatia.
When we come into the forest, we leave the road (the turn-off is poorly marked) and we start descending through the forest (when this description was made, this part of the path was quite overgrown). Further, we arrive at some farms on the periphery of Bizeljska vas. The path continues by the forest and after a few minutes returns into it.
After entering the forest, we again start ascending on a partly gravel surface and quickly ascend to the saddle Orešje, where by the cottage we turn sharply left into the forest. A little further, we arrive at the viewpoint Vlka Pečina, from which an outstanding view opens up to the south.
Some more ascending follows and we arrive at the rock Ajdovska baba.
The path ahead brings us to the next saddle, which is also the highest point of our path.
From the saddle, where a cross stands, we start descending, and lower down we arrive at a forested meadow, where the former pond of castle Kunšperk is located.
From the pond, a little more gentle descent follows, and after a turn, we arrive at the ruins of the once mighty castle Kunšperk.
The castle is increasingly overgrown by the forest, but despite this, a view opens up slightly to the north.
