Bogojina - Bukovniško jezero (by road)

Access to starting point:
From the Pomurska highway we go to the Gančani exit and follow the road ahead in the direction of Moravske Toplice. After a few km of additional driving, the road brings us to a somewhat bigger crossroad in Bogojina. Here we continue straight (left Moravske Toplice, right Lendava) and a somewhat narrower road quickly brings us to the center of the village. We continue driving through the village, and we follow the signs for the Plečnik church. Only a little before the mentioned church we will come to a smaller triangular crossroad, where we continue left towards the cemetery (straight Plečnik church). After a short further drive we get to the mentioned cemetery, in front of which we park on a nicely arranged parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we return to the triangular crossroad, and from there we continue on the road in the direction of Bukovniško jezero. The road at first leads past the famous Plečnik church in Bogojina, and then turns a little to the right and past some more 10 houses brings us to a crossroad, where we continue straight. Some 100 m ahead we get to the next crossroad, where we continue left to a crossroad some 10 m distant at the information board of Goričko Landscape Park. Here we continue straight, and then past pastures we get to the next crossroad, where from the left joins the marked path from Vršič, and a marked path (initially and for most of the way a road) towards Bukovniško jezero branches off to the right, the latter continues with some ascents and descents through the hills of surrounding villages and is somewhat longer time-wise than the path along the road.
At the mentioned crossroad, we continue straight on the main asphalt road, which starts to ascend moderately. Higher up, we get to the hunting lodge of the Bogojina hunting society, after which the road starts descending. Lower down the forest ends and the path brings us to the village Bukovnica, where past a smaller church we get to a crossroad, where we continue right in the direction of Bukovniško jezero (left Ousišče). We continue through the village, and then at the next crossroad we again continue right in the direction of Bukovniško jezero. We continue on a narrower asphalt road which leads us past some more houses, and then it changes into macadam, on which we start slightly descending. Further on, the road turns to the left and through a meadow brings us to a crossroad by the NOB monument, where we continue right. The road soon returns into the forest and brings us to the information board near Bukovniško jezero.
Here we continue right (also straight is possible) and we continue on the educational path which runs around the lake. For the entire circle around the lake we need just over 20 minutes.
