Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Jesenice, we take the exit Lesce and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. In Bohinjska Bistrica, we turn onto Ajdovska cesta and follow it past the church to the railway station, where we park.
Path description:
From the railway station, we walk along Ajdovska cesta and before the bridge over the stream Belca we turn right down the slope and then, after just a few meters, left, following the asphalt road, which after 100 meters turns into macadam. With a view of Ajdovski gradec (580 m) we continue under the railway bridge (which leads over the river Sava Bohinjka) to the end of the macadam road, where a house stands (officially, this entire branch of the macadam road belongs to Ajdovska cesta, which is therefore the longest street in Bohinjska Bistrica). Before the house, signs direct us towards the waterfall Grmečica. We continue across the meadow and when we are opposite the village Lepence we cross a torrent. From there the path winds for some time right along the Sava. In between there is one somewhat more difficult section, where a rope protects us (2-meter rocky jump). From here onwards we soon step onto a wider cart track, which takes us out of the forest onto a meadow and into the village Log, through which we walk and at the end of which we turn left onto a cart track that crosses a larger meadow. A pleasant cart track path, which further runs through the forest, then continues along the river Sava Bohinjka, from which it then withdraws somewhat to the right. Only a few minutes of walking remain and the path will bring us to the waterfall Grmečica.
The recommended time to visit is in spring, as in autumn livestock grazes on the meadows near the village Log.
Pictures from the path refer to the condition at the beginning of February 2016.
