Access to starting point:
A) From Dravograd we drive towards Maribor, but only to the village of Vas, where we continue left towards Remšnik. An ascent to the mentioned settlement follows, where a little before the parish church of St. Jurij we continue sharply left. Further on, we drive past the homesteads Kajzar and Helbel; at the latter we continue on the right road, then we also go past the homesteads Prelank, where we go left, and Korenk, which we bypass on the left side. A few more crossings follow, where at the crossroads we continue straight. When we arrive at the state border, we park in a suitable spot by the road. The border crossing Remšnik is located a few hundred meters further ahead.
B) From Maribor we drive towards Dravograd, but only to the settlement Brezno, where we turn right towards the settlements Brezni Vrh and Remšnik. Higher up, we leave the road to Remšnik and continue straight towards Brezni Vrh. A few meters further we continue slightly right, then we drive past the homesteads Hager, Podržavnik, Kompar, Breznik, where we go left towards Austria; then a few more crossings follow and we arrive at the border crossing with Austria. Here we go left and drive another approximately 500 m to the next crossroads, where we park in a suitable spot.
Path description:
From the starting point, we continue eastward towards Kapla and Brezno, then after a few dozen meters, we turn slightly left onto a footpath that gently ascends through a strip of forest. We soon leave the forest and bypass a nearby holiday cottage on the upper side, then descend back to the road, which we reach near the eastern part of OMP Remšnik. We continue straight on the Austrian side (to the right, the Slovenian path towards Kapla), leaving the road shortly after and turning right onto a footpath that ascends via short steps. A little further, the path leads us through a short grassy section, from which a beautiful view towards the church of St. Pankracij opens up when looking back, and we quickly reach an asphalt road, which we follow upward. Some ascent follows on the asphalt road, which turns into a cart track behind a nearby house, where the ascent also ends. We continue through the forest, mostly traversing slopes without significant changes in altitude, and upon reaching a small saddle, we can cross to the Slovenian side.
We continue on the Austrian side and, after some time, leave the forest, crossing a fence. A fairly scenic diagonal descent follows, and after crossing the fence again, we already see the guesthouse Panoramaschenke Tertinek ahead, which we reach in a minute of further walking.
