We arrive in Hungary at the border crossing Dolga Vas - Redics. We drive in the direction of Szombathely / Mosonmagyaróvár to the town of Körmend where at the roundabout we will turn east towards Veszprém.
We drive to the town to the roundabout which has the shape of a kikirikija before the town of Jánosháza and from there we go north towards Sárvár / Sopron, but only about five kilometers where we will spot the left turnoff for the villages Boba and Borgáta. We drive through the village Borgáta and after another kilometer we arrive at the spa Borgáta Fürdő. When we see the bus station we turn right and immediately park in the larger parking lot next to the spa.
Path description:
From the parking lot by the spa we go south. Orientation is easy because our goal is exactly in front of us. The street is called Fürdő ut and after the junction Királykő ut.
When we arrive at the junction where we can no longer proceed straight we turn left and after a minute of walking right again.
The path will now begin to ascend first gently then more steeply. After a few minutes the steepness eases and we reach the summit part of the crater and a well-maintained road.
Along the road we continue south. At the junction we will spot an arrow with the marking Királykő. We turn right.
We will leave the road to the right after a minute of walking and continue among the vineyards. When the description was being made (2026) this turnoff was not marked.
Now we go through the vineyards. By one cellar we spot the arrow to the wall again. We bypass the cellar and after a few more steep ascents we reach the wall of Királykő, the attraction of this volcano. One minute from the wall is also the highest peak.
Despite the small height due to its location in the valley this volcano is a very good viewpoint. To the west it is possible to see to the Alps in Austria.
