Access to starting point:
From highway LJ - CE or vice versa we take the exit Žalec. Then we drive to the railway station in Žalec, and from there continue on the road to the village Griže. In Griže we continue straight to Zabukovica, where at SIPEX we follow the road sign for Gozdnik. Soon after, we reach the house with a painted horse, where we turn right uphill onto a macadam road. We leave the car at the top by the hunting observatory and gate.
Path description:
From the starting point, we go over the gate into the forest. We choose the cart track that ascends uphill. Then we walk on the cart track, a little up and a little down, until we reach a crossing. The cart track separates at the big beech tree; we choose the path to the right (the left cart track leads towards Mrzlica).
The path ahead starts ascending more steeply, and we soon reach a new cart track and the first vertical ascents (rocks up to 50 meters high). We follow the cart track for 5 meters, then branch off to the left into the "Kamnik primeval forest.". We ascend through the forest, where many large boulders are scattered. The path is quite visible, as someone has "decorated" it with arrows and red circles. When we reach the wild climbing area, the signs direct us left into the rocks. The path leads to the memorial plaque and below a rock (with iron spikes), then along a narrow path to the most exposed part, where we stand above a 70-meter precipice! The path steeply ascends into the rock; here, iron spikes and iron poles assist us. After overcoming the rocky steepness, we reach the upper ridge and arrive at Mali vrh on Kamnik. The path continues along the ridge to the summit of Kamnik, approximately 30 minutes away.
