Brneško sedlo - Velika Kopa

Access to starting point:
a) Drive to Vuzenica, then follow the signs for Kope and the settlement of Sv. Primož na Pohorju. The route continues through Vuzenica for a while longer, then we arrive at the settlement of Sv. Primož na Pohorju. Further on, follow the signs for Kremžarjev vrh and Koča Planinc. Higher up, at about 900 m a.s.l., the road to Koča Planinc and the Kope ski resort turns left, but we continue straight onto the gravel road marked for Slovenj Gradec and Kremžarjev vrh. A few more traverse ascents follow, and we follow the road to Brneško sedlo, marked on some maps also as Slovenjgraško sedlo. Park at a suitable spot on the saddle, where there is also a marked junction.
b) Drive to Slovenj Gradec, initially follow signs for Kope, but when still in Slovenj Gradec the main road to Kope turns right, we continue straight onto the side road marked for Kremžarica. Further on, follow the main road in the direction of the Kernik farm, at sea level approx. 950 m turn right onto the road to the Lampret farm. Bypass the farm, which we reach on a side saddle, on the left upper side; when we reach Mačkov križ on the main ridge, go right in the direction of the marked path to Kope. A traverse below Mačkov vrh follows, then we soon reach Brneško or Slovenjgraško sedlo, where we park.

Path description:
From the starting point, head onto the marked trail towards Partizanski dom and Grmovškov dom, where we begin ascending along a forest lane or track. The trail steepens for a while, upon reaching the ridge of Sedlarjev vrh the path levels out, and behind the highest point of the indistinct summit we gradually descend, bypassing the adjacent Ertarjev vrh on the right side. The gentle path takes us a few minutes further to Kaštivsko sedlo, where we join the trail leading past Koča Planinc.
Continue slightly right towards Kope, first crossing a poor road, then ascending along a track that initially still leads through forest. Higher up, the track turns into a steep path that ascends for a while along the edge of the ski slope, from where we enjoy fine views. As we veer somewhat right away from the ski area, a marked hiking trail from Vuhred joins from the left; we continue straight and, through a belt of raspberries, ascend in a few more minutes of walking to Partizanski dom Kope.
Bypass Partizanski dom on the left and continue along the gravel road. Just a few dozen steps further the road forks, we take the right road leading past holiday homes. The trail enters forest and moderately ascends. Upon leaving the forest we reach a gravel road and continue along it without major elevation changes, or traverse slightly descending.
At the pass below Velika Kopa, the marked trail to Grmovškov dom veers slightly right; we continue along the road and begin ascending a bit more. When the road higher up stops ascending, go right and in a few dozen steps reach the highest point of Velika Kopa.
