Access to starting point:
Celje is simply accessible from several directions. Park by the railway station near the bridge over the Savinja or in the immediate vicinity. Those who come to the town by train will also have an ideal starting point.
Route description:
From the railway station, we go in the direction of Laško and cross the bridge over the river Savinja. Immediately on the other side of the bridge we turn right onto the road which leads along the river and after approximately 100 meters we turn left onto a narrow road uphill. After a few minutes on the left side of the road, we notice a bigger sign "Mestni gozd" with a map and marking "Žerdonerjeva pot". (On the right side on a clearing behind the trees there is the Herulovo svetišče shrine). We ascend the stairs and continue in the forest. We are ascending all the time, we go past (not in its direction) the sign, which shows the direction for "samostan", and then we follow the signs for "razgledni stolp". From the forest we come to a clearing with a smaller platform or so-called Razgledni stolp, which offers a view of the town Celje and Stari grad Celje.

https://youtu.be/FWyHE9R2C8c?si=l093f40CBQHdU1Fo A fun idea for a quick jump after work to the viewpoint platform, with a view to the west 🌄 and Celje, which on nice weather covers itself with an orange blanket and goes to well-deserved rest 🥱🌙 I take this path a bit differently than in the above description. I think locals from this side mostly go as you see in the video and I describe below. I parked in the park by the Ice Hall. Then I went up the stairs and on the left side past the Capuchin monastery to the first signposts for the viewpoint tower and St. Nicholas Church. Further the path crosses a meadow and enters the forest. In numerous serpentines guided by signs, I climbed to the 376 m high viewpoint tower. Regards, Nina
