Celje - Sveti Peter (Olešče)

Access to starting point:
Celje, the third largest Slovenian city, practically accessible from several directions. We park somewhere between the railway station and the bridge over the Savinja in the direction of Laško. There might be a problem because the parking lots are mainly paid... if you arrive by train, these problems naturally fall away.

Path description:
We start the path at the bridge over the Savinja next to the sign with a panoramic image of the Celje hills. The path in the section up to the final branch-off at Srebotnik is the introductory part of the CPP - Celje mountain path. In the first part, we walk along the path between the Savinja and the railway line to the confluence of the Voglajna with the Savinja river. We continue over the bridge and under the railway line to the right, and then along the Pelikanova pot to Stari grad.
From the castle, we continue left steeply uphill past the inn and follow the well-consolidated path through the settlement Osenca. From the left, the path from the settlement Teharje joins us. We continue along the asphalt link through the settlement Pečovje and follow the branches mainly to the right, which are excellently marked with directional signs.
In the forest section, the mountain path from Štore named "mimo Marije" also joins from the left. We continue along the forest road past two or three houses/weekend cottages and then left again along a somewhat narrower forest path and higher partly also along skid tracks. The path ascends somewhat more steeply again, and on the left side there are also some steel cables, more for fencing than for gripping.
Soon we reach a junction: straight ahead and higher to Srebotnik, while we continue left and after about a hundred meters downhill reach the Marija chapel carved into the wall of Srebotnik. Here there is a bench, a table and a logbook box; after a short rest, we continue uphill from the chapel along the forest path/skid tracks and follow the markers and directional signs to Svetina or the signs of the Barbarina pot. On a larger grassy clearing there is a junction where we continue left to Almin dom, right is the path to Tolsti vrh...
We follow the forest path to a junction where the path continues uphill to Almin dom, while we descend right downhill into the settlement Svetina. After a short tour of the settlement, we continue along the path of the XIV Division past the cemetery (grave of the great traveler Alma Karlin, immediately left at the entrance) along the road higher toward Kanjuce. Past a larger homestead to the right along the road, also past the horse enclosure, we reach the pass to the wooden cross right by the road. Right uphill, soon after the cross the path leads to Veliki vrh.
We continue from the cross straight ahead and somewhat downhill; the path runs partly through the forest and across meadows. At one of the homesteads we reach the asphalt link and the more substantial part of the settlement Kanjuce. We follow the asphalt link with excellent markings among the homesteads along a varied road all the way to the Sela part of the settlement. A wooden sign directs us right onto the macadam road, and on the masonry garage is somewhere the last correct marking with Roman 14. From the garage onward, the markings "disappear" and in the more pronounced forest section we simply follow the road. This is somewhere the end of the municipality of Štore and the beginning of the municipality of Laško. Upon descending out of the forest, the settlement Olešče with the church of St. Peter somewhat on the hill is already in view. We follow the road through Petrovo Selo downhill past scattered homesteads, more or less maintained chapels... Unfortunately there are no markings, and at two junctions we continue right, which is logical anyway due to the better macadam road. Soon we reach the church, somewhat elevated, and this is also the destination of the path today in the area between Svetina and Jurklošter.
